Any thoughts or opinions? I don't know anyone with this name.

I have heard of it. Think it is Irish and spelt differently.
It's lovely.

Alohamora · 02/08/2016 10:15

The Irish name is Aisling and is really lovely.

AnotherOddSock · 02/08/2016 10:15

That's Aisling, pronounced Ash-leen. I didn't want to give her an Irish name with an Irish spelling

It's a pleasant name that nobody will have trouble pronouncing.

ayeokthen · 02/08/2016 10:17

I have a friend who's daughter is called Ashlynn, spelled how you spell it. I think it's lovely.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/08/2016 10:19

It keen. Prefer Ashley to the 'Lynne' bit.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 02/08/2016 10:21

...with Alohamora here, I think people will imagine you meant Aisling, but wanted to go with a novelty spelling/pronunciation.

Theydontknowweknowtheyknow · 02/08/2016 10:22

I love Aisling/Ashlynn but prefer the Irish spelling. Just because it was one of the first characters I loved: Aisling from Maeve Binchy's "Light a Penny Candle"

123therearenomoreusernames · 02/08/2016 10:31

It's lovely but probably will be seen as Irish. There are two Irish versions Aisling - pronounced Ashleen and Aislinn - pronounced Ashlynn

Pigeonpost · 02/08/2016 10:36

Ashlynn sounds like a made up name. Or a name chosen by someone who didn't like the spelling of Aisling. So not, not for me personally.

Sophronia · 02/08/2016 10:50

It looks/sounds very American

ThisPasadenaHomemaker · 02/08/2016 10:52

Aisling isn't pronounced the same as Ashlynn.

Ashlynn sounds like a failed country singer turned truck stop hooker.

babyblabber · 02/08/2016 11:11

Aisling isn't pronounced ash-leen, it's ash-ling so would be much more like ash-lynne in sound. There would be confusion but if that doesn't bother you it's a nice name. Aisling prettier I think and is means dream which is lovely.

LarrytheCucumber · 02/08/2016 11:14

The only Ashlyn I know is Australian, so I had no idea it was connected to Aisling.Blush

Showgirl109 · 02/08/2016 11:17

It's Aislinn, close friends name. Beautiful and unusual. Often misspelled.... It's an Irish name. Is your spelling American? I think they would be pronounced the same way?

ElspethFlashman · 02/08/2016 11:19

Sounds like an American cheerleader from the Deep South to me.

1weekdown5togo · 02/08/2016 11:20

Sounds American to me. Saw an Our Generation doll in the toy shop yesterday called Ashlynn.

1weekdown5togo · 02/08/2016 11:20

I prefer Ashleigh.

christinawilliams · 02/08/2016 11:22

I like Ashlynn. Although it sounds a little American to me, i find it sweet. If I have to imagine a girl named Ashley, I imagine a sweet, innocent cutie pie. Smile

christinawilliams · 02/08/2016 11:23

Ashlynn* sry my DD I testing my nerves right now and i didnt even see what i was typing Grin

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/08/2016 11:55

I don't like it.

MitzyLeFrouf · 02/08/2016 11:56

There are two Irish versions Aisling - pronounced Ashleen and Aislinn - pronounced Ashlynn

Aisling and Aislinn are both pronounced ash-ling.

Dontrocktheboat · 02/08/2016 12:01

Aisling pronounced Ashling is nice.

Ashlynn is a bit eighties trailer trash.

CordeliaFrost · 02/08/2016 12:26

As has already been posted, Ashlynn is no relation to Aisling or Aislinn, both are pronounced as ash-ling (the g at the end is quite soft). You can hear it pronounced here.

Ashlin is an old English surname, but the first name Ashlyn(n) is modern English usage, and probably a smush of Ashley + Lyn(n).

I have an Ash- name myself (not Ashley), so I'm generally a fan of Ash- names. However, and I'm not sure why, but I've never warmed to Ashlynn.

I don't hate it, and there are worse names out there, but I prefer Ashley and my own name.

Wolfiefan · 02/08/2016 12:29

Agree sadly with posters who said it sounds like failed pageant cheerleader type.
