Baby girl name opinion

user1468526955 · 14/07/2016 21:15

My husband and I are really into unique/unheard of baby names. We are having a hard time agreeing on one though, we have both recently heard and started to really like the name Radley. My question is, do you think this name could work for a baby girl?

Any opinions/suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

Of you're planning on carrying her around over your arm in her car seat it could work Grin

Will she have a small dog label attached to her?

Posh boarding school. Like calling her Eton or Harrow

Seriously OP, you'll get the response of "like the handbag?" (I am usually asked "like the song?" when I mention DD's name which is a very unusual name). Alternatively, people will say Boo.

Boo or handbag.

Sophronia · 14/07/2016 21:37

Makes me think of Boo Radley.

I thought Boo.

Although I can see Rad as a nickname.

stiffstink · 14/07/2016 21:38

Two high fives is a high ten...

ThoraGruntwhistle · 14/07/2016 21:39

Yeah. Doggy handbags. Very surnamey. Mind you, Rad for short would be a nice retro slang nickname.

Just5minswithDacre · 14/07/2016 21:39

How about Pashley? Smile

Liz09 · 14/07/2016 21:41

Boo Radley.

Or the mental institution from Pretty Little Liars (admittedly, most people won't make that connection).

BoboBunnyH0p · 15/07/2016 14:26

Sorry first thought was handbag.

MrsCaecilius · 15/07/2016 14:48

It's a village near Oxford (where the school is). Still, better than being called Slough I suppose.

HettyB · 15/07/2016 19:46

For me it's a private school (I grew up locally to the school), then a handbag, then a band. To my ears, if it's a name, it's a boys one. Sorry!

However, a similar name I think is much more girly is Hadley - would that work? (Although now I've typed it I'm thinking Tony...)

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 15/07/2016 22:22

I thought of the handbag straight away too (sorry). I don't like Radley handbags, so I probably wouldn't like to name a DD Radley.

Trying to think of something similar to suggest and saw these 'surname' type names for girls on Nameberry:

Sawyer
Delaney
Lennox
Connelly
Campbell
Blaine

Any good?

RiverTam · 15/07/2016 22:26

Horrible dog handbags. Sorry!

Wintersummerwintersummer · 15/07/2016 22:27

It's pretty awful, sorry but then I hate surnames as first names so we have different taste

Porcupinetree · 16/07/2016 08:00

I think it's quite nice OP, certainly no worse than Rafferty that seems to be quite liked on MN.

DerelictMyBalls · 16/07/2016 11:42

I quite like Radley... For a boy.
