Ok, our little boy came early and doesn't have a name. Shortlist below. We're in Ireland and are veering towards an Irish name but not sure - opinions from Irish mumsnetters particularly welcome:

Faolan (means little wolf, I like the idea of having a little wolf...) pronounced fway-lawn
Sebastien - probably with nickname Seb
Art
Rian

Now seems dh doesn't want Faolan either. 😒 I tried calling him sebastien for a while but it's just too much of a mouthful. He's approaching a week old without a name and I'm getting upset! Now dh likes Cuan. I'm not sure about it?

Cuan is just one letter off..............

Don't panic OP. My DS2 didn't have a name for a week and a half.

How about

Conal
Emmett
Adare
Brodie
Ferdia
Cillian

I think Seb for Sebastian is lovely.

I really like Art. Would it be short for Arthur or a stand-alone name?

Apachepony · 13/07/2016 06:32

Art is a stand-alone name - it's actually a different name from Arthur. At least one old Irish King had the name.

Caelan? I love it. we pronounce it Kay-Lan but think it can be said differently and means powerful warrior!

Apachepony · 13/07/2016 12:39

Caelan is nice actually, we had it on a list, not sure why we took it off. Cael is nice too, except people would think it was Kale, the vegetable!
Finally, what would people think of Luan? Dh seems to like it. Would be be teased cos it sounds like Loo-on?

Like the wolf meaning but not sure about the sound of the word. Two long, stressed syllables sounds clumsy to my little English ear, but if it works in Ireland, go for it.

Have always liked Sebastian, though...
