Elizabeth?

DD1 is called Emily. DD2 due very soon.

The only Two names Dh and I agree on are
Elizabeth
Lily

Both have some similarity with Emily. Which should we choose, Lily or Elizabeth?
Thanks

"And it's great for labelling clothes just write "E McDonald" and you don't have to relabel when it's handed down smile"
That's true, good point! Smile

My sister is Emily-Jane and I love her name! It's such a strong girls name.

OliveV · 08/07/2016 13:53

I prefer Lily...

Donatellalymanmoss · 08/07/2016 14:32

Love the name Elizabeth, it has so many lovely variations as well, as the owner of a name with no variations, it gives me a very large case of the envies.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 08/07/2016 14:37

I love the name Lily - but probably wouldn't use it if I already had an Emily.

Eliza?
Louisa?

Brankolium · 08/07/2016 15:30

Elizabeth works just fine and is a lovely name.

Other suggestions - Eloise, Miriam, Alexis

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 08/07/2016 15:35

Elizabeth is lovely and has such nice options for nns.

Eliza
Lizzie
Beth
Betty
Betsy

Not too similar to Emily at all. I'd go with it. I prefer it to Isabelle But how about Isadora?

bombayflambe · 08/07/2016 15:36

Emily and Elizabeth,
Milly and Beth
Emmy and Liz
yup. They work fine.

Ambroxide · 08/07/2016 16:19

They are both lovely names. I'm afraid Clifford the Big Red Dog was my first thought, though.

PunkAssMoFo · 08/07/2016 19:46

I second Bethany.

Would you like:
Abigail
Sophia
Jessica/Jessie
Sadie
Clara
Anna/Annabelle
Seems like you go for classic names...

I know a family with an Elizabeth and an Emily. Quite confusing now as Elizabeth is shortened to Ellie.

Porcupinetree · 08/07/2016 20:06

I thought of Clifford straight away sorry.

manlurking · 09/07/2016 08:12

A friend called Elizabeth told me it was perfect, when she's under 40 she can be Lizzie, around then she will transition to Liz and when she retires he'll be Betty. What more could you want?

mathanxiety · 11/07/2016 00:42

Emily and Rachel
Emily and Rebecca
Emily and Caroline
Emily and Alice
Emily and Madeleine
Emily and Lydia
Emily and Anna
Emily and Jane
Emily and Katherine
Emily and Juliet
Emily and Tess

I also had a flashback to Clifford.

Flowersonthewall · 11/07/2016 00:52

I've got an Emily and phoebe Smile

swancourt · 11/07/2016 20:07

Elizabeth - yes. Lily and Emily is a bit too much of a mouthful, I think.

I have an Isobel, so I'm all in favour of that name and think it goes well with Emily. It's popular, but as you've already got an Emily and are contemplating a Lily, I'd say you're not too worried about that.

LadyCallandraDaviot · 12/07/2016 20:43

Also made me think of Clifford the big red dog, but that's not necessarily a bad thing!

Elizabeth has so many shortenings it could sound more or less similar depending which you used - Emily and Beth, Emily and Betsy, Emily and Libby, Emily and Liza etc etc
