Would you be put off by these initials?

My husband and I liked Edward and George for our gorgeous son. We decided to call him Edward as were worried about the popularity of George. I then thought that we could give him George as a middle name. However, our name starts with G, so it would make him Edward George G..., with EGG as initials. It made me worried that he could be teased at school, so gave him James as mn just because it sounded nice. I still have an option to change his mn till he is 12 months. Do you think EGG as initials is a valid reason not to choose George? Thanks!

My initials are EAT, no one even knew tbh. I was expecting BJ or something. If you like George go for it!

I went to school with a Becca James. It was mentioned maybe twice, and by her. Nobody cares about initials... Egg is fine. I'd be amazed if more than a handful of people notice in his entire life.

thundercake · 01/07/2016 12:54

Hmmmm, I'd avoid 'egg' as initials. If kids found out it could be his nickname forever! Only recently realised my DD's initials are NRD (hope no one calls her 'nerd'!)

SavoyCabbage · 01/07/2016 12:54

My dd's initials are a word and neither she (9) or anyone else has ever noticed. The three initials are almost never used together.

WhizzPopper · 01/07/2016 12:56

Dd's initials spell PAT which I worried about at the time but don't care about 3 years down the line! No ones ever mentioned it yet but she's obviously not started school.

100paperclips · 01/07/2016 13:04

It's not rude so I can't see it's a problem. It's likely, since a lot of the time people don't use middle names, that hardly anyone will ever notice anyway.

ExitPursuedByBear · 01/07/2016 13:07

Wasn't there an Egg in a John Irving book

I think Egg would be quite a nice nickname

imnottoofussed · 01/07/2016 13:11

Us by David Nichols had a character nicknamed Egg. I don't think anyone would notice the initials, most people don't use their middle names or have to write out just the initials.

AuldYow · 01/07/2016 13:15

No issue when they're little but we use initials at work and some make you think HmmShockGrin EGG is brilliant.

It could be worse you could call him Peter Ian...

emilythomson313 · 01/07/2016 13:59

I don't think its such a big deal to be honest, wouldn't have even noticed if you hadn't mentioned it.

1horatio · 01/07/2016 14:08

It's fine. As long as it isn't super offensive or rude... Like ASS for example.
It's lovely name. Or what about GEG, if you really worry?

Anonymouses · 01/07/2016 14:20

The only person I know who had trouble with initials was someone whose initials spelt ars and they got called arse. I can't see egg being an issue but I also don't see anything wrong with James as a middle name either.

HeartOnTheLine · 01/07/2016 14:22

Teased at school? I doubt the children at school would take any notice to his initials, I mean why would they? You are thinking way to hard.

Oysterbabe · 01/07/2016 18:07

I'd stick with what you've called him, it's a nice name.

We abandoned our first choice name because the initial would have been XL. What if he was overweight? It could have resulted in much teasing.

Eeeek686 · 01/07/2016 18:13

DDs are MMR - we've been joking were should nickname her Vax! It's kinda catchy.... Grin

We're not worried tho - OH hasn't even realised and it's His 3yr old!

Eeeek686 · 01/07/2016 18:13

*hadn't... Hmm

anastasiakrupnik · 01/07/2016 18:21

I know an ASS (by marriage)

2nds · 01/07/2016 18:23

You rarely have to use any middle names you have so I wouldn't let it put me off the names.

2nds · 01/07/2016 18:26

Oh and I agree with the poster who said school kids likely won't even notice the initials.

NataliaOsipova · 01/07/2016 18:26

There's a good chance he will have EGG as a nickname, but other than that I don't see that it matters that much.

pestov · 01/07/2016 18:30

Might want to check to see if any potential local schools make the kids wear their initials on their PE kits, our secondaries do and no one wants something silly embroidered across their chest!

What's wrong with having 2 middle names? I do!

notamummy10 · 01/07/2016 18:34

An acquaintance of mine has recently had a baby girl, her initials are: ABBB - they look like a set of a-level results. Grin

BigGreenOlives · 01/07/2016 18:37

We know an adult with the surname White who is known as Egg... Nicknames are given, not chosen.

danTDM · 01/07/2016 18:39

nothing wrong with E.G.G at all!
Lovely proposed names Smile

PuppyMonkey · 01/07/2016 18:42

Can't think of a single person from my school days whose middle name I actually knew. Confused
