Would you be put off by these initials?

My husband and I liked Edward and George for our gorgeous son. We decided to call him Edward as were worried about the popularity of George. I then thought that we could give him George as a middle name. However, our name starts with G, so it would make him Edward George G..., with EGG as initials. It made me worried that he could be teased at school, so gave him James as mn just because it sounded nice. I still have an option to change his mn till he is 12 months. Do you think EGG as initials is a valid reason not to choose George? Thanks!

I went to school with a Becca James. It was mentioned maybe twice, and by her. Nobody cares about initials... Egg is fine. I'd be amazed if more than a handful of people notice in his entire life.

Hmmmm, I'd avoid 'egg' as initials. If kids found out it could be his nickname forever! Only recently realised my DD's initials are NRD (hope no one calls her 'nerd'!)

My dd's initials are a word and neither she (9) or anyone else has ever noticed. The three initials are almost never used together.

Dd's initials spell PAT which I worried about at the time but don't care about 3 years down the line! No ones ever mentioned it yet but she's obviously not started school.

It's not rude so I can't see it's a problem. It's likely, since a lot of the time people don't use middle names, that hardly anyone will ever notice anyway.

Us by David Nichols had a character nicknamed Egg. I don't think anyone would notice the initials, most people don't use their middle names or have to write out just the initials.

No issue when they're little but we use initials at work and some make you think EGG is brilliant.

It could be worse you could call him Peter Ian...

The only person I know who had trouble with initials was someone whose initials spelt ars and they got called arse. I can't see egg being an issue but I also don't see anything wrong with James as a middle name either.

Teased at school? I doubt the children at school would take any notice to his initials, I mean why would they? You are thinking way to hard.

I'd stick with what you've called him, it's a nice name.

We abandoned our first choice name because the initial would have been XL. What if he was overweight? It could have resulted in much teasing.

DDs are MMR - we've been joking were should nickname her Vax! It's kinda catchy....

You rarely have to use any middle names you have so I wouldn't let it put me off the names.

Oh and I agree with the poster who said school kids likely won't even notice the initials.

There's a good chance he will have EGG as a nickname, but other than that I don't see that it matters that much.

Might want to check to see if any potential local schools make the kids wear their initials on their PE kits, our secondaries do and no one wants something silly embroidered across their chest!

An acquaintance of mine has recently had a baby girl, her initials are: ABBB - they look like a set of a-level results.

We know an adult with the surname White who is known as Egg... Nicknames are given, not chosen.
