I believe Elliott is the "traditional" spelling, but I like Elliot equally.

DramaAlpaca · 29/06/2016 23:07

For a first name, Elliot.

I think of Elliott as a surname.

I know that probably sounds daft!

Agree Elliott is more a surname

indieblack · 29/06/2016 23:24

Elliot is traditional European version. Elliott is the US version.

The extra 't' doesn't seem necessary to me, and takes longer to write. There are not many words than end in double t. It's a originally a surname anyway, isn't it, and most times I think the surname has only one 't'.

KoalaDownUnder · 30/06/2016 04:03

I agree that Elliot looks like a first name, and Elliott more like a surname.

I also think Elliot just looks nicer and more streamlined.

Afreshstartplease · 30/06/2016 05:37

Elliot

cathpip · 30/06/2016 05:46

I have an Elliott, and wished that I had only given him the one t. Everyone including family spell his name wrong.

queenoftheboys · 30/06/2016 05:48

I prefer Elliot (but interestingly when I went to type it I automatically used two Ts and had to correct it).

BuzzLightyearsHoneyBun · 30/06/2016 06:15

I have an Elliott, with two Ts. We felt it looked more complete that way and that is how Elliott from ET is spelt (and where I got the name from)
Gorgeous name, however it is spelt

LowAMH · 01/07/2016 01:12

Elliot but I like the name either way. Elliott makes me think of Elliott Smith.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/07/2016 01:16

Single t for a first name.
