Dorothy?

DH says he loves the name Dorothy after his grandmother, who practically raised him. I like it but I wonder if it's too old fashioned. I like Dorothea for the nicknames Dora and Thea but that's even more old fashioned. Thoughts?

It's nice, I think it's coming back 'in'.

I have a 5 year old Dorothy. She loves her name. She's yet to meet another the same age and is frequently Dot, Dotty or Dorrie. People generally seem to like it and so far she hasn't been too annoyed that the only personalised things you can buy in shops with her name on are aimed at women in their 60s!

I had a lovely Auntie Dot / Dottie. I think it's just adorable on a little one X

I like Dorothy but prefer Dorothea. It has a more flowing sound and good nickname potential.

I had a friend Dorothy known as Dorry, which I love. I know she didn't like Dorothy.

I love Dorothea - Middlemarch!

I have a Dorothy at work (she's in her 80s), but often I forget that her name is Dorothy because she only ever gets called Dot.

It's an alright name, but will always remind me of the Wizard of Oz and the dinosaur from the Wiggles.

That being said, I like Dora in spite of the Dora the Explorer association, so feel free to ignore me! Haha.
