Tahlia / Thalia

Trying to find a name for DD. DH loves Keira, I love Libby, both of us are a bit "Meh" about the others favourite.

I've thrown Thalia out there and it hasn't been vetoed, but I had a family friend growing up with that name, who I haven't spoken to in about 10 years, but it still feels a bit weird. DP is concerned that "Tahlia" is a bit too "exotic dancer" and is starting to feel the same about Thalia... What do you reckon?

Hm I know what you mean! I prefer Libby and Keira over any form of Thalia.

My preference is Keira, then Tahlia, then Libby.

Tahlia makes me think of Ra's al Ghul's daughter from the Batman franchise although I think that was spelled Talia.

I think Thalia / Tahlia is gorgeous. Far prefer either of them to Keira or Libby (sorry - they are nice enough names, but I don't love them).

Just to add that I would also go with Ciara not Keira and Elizabeth nn Libby if you go with either of those options.

How would you pronounce? Tallia or Taylia? I read a book once with a Thalia who was teased as her name sounded like failure.

Thanks all! Yes we'll go Elizabeth nn Libby if that's the end result. And we'd pronounce is Tar-Lee-Ah. Kiera's just not really for me, so I think that's about to be officially off the list, feel less bad now that Imogen has been scratched off by DP in an over the top "Oh god no!" way, at least I entertained Keira!

Still adore the name. Thought of Tahlia too Thalia would get pronounced THalia I think. She sometimes gets Tal-ya

I would spell it Talia - There's also Tora, Torla or Tara which are similar?

I love Keira, i prefer that spelling to other ones too.

Elizabeth with Libby is nice too, but it also has a wide range of nicknames if she wants to change when she is older - Eliza, Lizzy, Liz, Liza, Beth, Betty

I know a Thalia and she is lovely, so I am voting yes!

I prefer Thalia - Talia (Tar-lee-ya) sounds like a council estate name with a brother called Sherwayne and a sister called Shardonnay or something!!!

I agree Elizabeth with Libby as a nickname is lovely.

I like Talia/ Thalia and Keira...Both were on my shortlist for dd2. I think Libby is dull is comparison.

Margewithbluehair - thank you for saying my daughter has a council estate name whatever a council estate name actually is??? Her name is pronounced Tah-Lee-ah and is an Old Testament make the feminine of Tal and means Dew from Heaven!

Council estate? :D You should tell this to my (late) great aunty. Born on a lovely estate, btw. She'd be delighed to hear her name has 'naughty' connotations nowadays.

I like Thalia. Alternatively, you could use Natalia with a nn Thalia.
