Opinions on Marlowe for a girl?

Never heard of it. Sounds a bit masculine.

tinymeteor · 07/06/2016 23:19

Definitely unusual but I love it. Think Sienna Miller used it for her kid?

MumOnACornishFarm · 07/06/2016 23:28

Love it!

IoraRua · 07/06/2016 23:52

It reminds of that fantastic burn Jean Harlow got from Margot Asquith. "The t is silent, as in Harlow".
Bit of an odd association but it did make me Grin

IoraRua · 07/06/2016 23:53

Anyway to actually answer the question no, I don't like it.

RortyCrankle · 07/06/2016 23:58

I don't like it and can't think of anything nice to say about it.

lottiegarbanzo · 08/06/2016 00:10

Place name, surname, not a first name.

Marley yes, Marlowe has an odd ending for a girls' name.

lottiegarbanzo · 08/06/2016 00:10

Makes me think of marshmallow.

villainousbroodmare · 08/06/2016 00:16

I like it a lot. It depends a bit on your surname.

Alisvolatpropiis · 08/06/2016 00:18

Christopher Marlowe ring a bell?

Theresomethingaboutdairy · 08/06/2016 00:19

Playwright?

nudeynuderson · 08/06/2016 00:22

Love Marlowe think it's quite a trendy celeb name though?

pieceofpurplesky · 08/06/2016 00:23

Place in Bucks or Christopher. Not a fan sorry

DailyMailGOFuckOff · 08/06/2016 00:30

What about Malory?

purplefox · 08/06/2016 00:40

I love it but it's too "trendy" now for me.

I do love 'M' names though... Mara, Maude, Meadow, Margot

Mclaren37 · 08/06/2016 00:40

I really like it. Very cool and much more sophisticated than Marlie/Marley imo. It's true Sienna Miller's daughter is called Marlowe. It was on our long list but we went with Margot - different style - good job as we totally randomly ended up living in Marlowe for a bit :). So long as you know she will never be 'Marlowe from Marlowe' then use it!

NadiaWadia · 08/06/2016 03:47

Marla or Marlie much nicer. Surnames as first names are not very appealing to me, especially on girls. Very unfeminine.

KoalaDownUnder · 08/06/2016 04:13

Doesn't appeal to me. Sounds/looks quite masculine.

Prefer Harlow.

Motherfuckers · 08/06/2016 05:33

I have a Titi (Aunty) Marlo..
Love love love the name Marlo.... Marlowe not so much as it is very masculine.

SocksRock · 08/06/2016 05:42

I know a little girl called Marlowe, I was a bit Hmm when I first heard it, but actually I really like it now.

AngieBolen · 08/06/2016 06:26

I really like it.

bloodymaria · 08/06/2016 06:28

I like it, but honestly prefer the spelling 'Marlow'.

Only1scoop · 08/06/2016 07:18

Awful

Raines100 · 08/06/2016 10:14

Came on the thread to say just go with Christopher if you want a nod to the author. Then you said the name is for a girl Hmm

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 08/06/2016 10:16

I think playwright too. I wouldn't use it because I just couldn't shake the association.
