Opinions on Kalden?

DP absolutely loves it. It's a Tibetan boy's name which is meaningful for us. There are only a handful of Kaldens in the country so he would have a fairly unique name.

I am not so sure, I think it's 'strong' sounding and can be shortened to Kal which is nice. I tend to prefer more mainstream boy's names (Ben for example) but can't find an alternative that DP likes too.

Surname is one syllable and Kalden goes quite nicely.

Would you feel sorry for a kid called Kalden?!

I'm another one who dislikes it due to its close associations with Kaiden/Kayden but if you love it then go for it.

I Like the idea of a Tibetan name but agree that this one sounds too much like Kaiden.

Sounds made up to me. Either that or it's town in Essex. Don't do it.

Somehow it seems to fit the trashy-Kardashy bracket imo. Not sure why. Think it's the K, although there are other K names I like. I like the sound of it but not the look of it; I think it would be silly, though, to spell it Calden.

In full agreement with most PPs. Nobody would immediately think 'Oooh, a Tibetan name, how lovely!', they'd think 'Isn't Wayne Rooney's son called that?'

Also, John is possibly the worst middle name choice to go with Kalden I can think of. Except maybe George.

Are there other Tibetan names you could consider? At least you have the Buddhism link to justify using a Tibetan name - I know some people are very funny about that sort of thing.

Yup, another one chiming in with the Kardashian impression. It's a shame really as it's not a bad name by itself, but I can't get past that association.

I sort of hate the names ending in -den as its super popular in the states and seem to be spilling over here. Last time I visited family in the states it seemed like everyone named their son Kayden, Jayden....

I wouldn’t feel sorry for a child/man called Kalden, it doesn’t blow me away as a name but as you say it’s inoffensive. I feel like you’re not sold on it though OP and you need to love your ds’ name 😊

Im not sure about Kalden but how about Dorje, Tenzin, Sangey or Chime? I met a beautiful Dorje once when I was backpacking! Mixed Tibetan / white American .
