Osian, Theo or Noah? (New thread as we're down to 3 names finally!)

Just that really! Surname is Mann.

If Theo or Noah then Osian would be a middle name.

If Osian then middle name will be tbc.

Noah is cute for a baby and boy but does it work for a man?

Should we worry about pronouciation issues re: Osian?
Osian is one of my fav Welsh boy names but not sure if it's a fav overall. I tend towards biblical names more.

Theo seems to work as a baby, child and man. But is it more 'vanilla' than Noah.

Where we live, Noah is statistically the most popular (top 10) where we live, though I've not met many. Theo is also top 10 but lower than Noah. I know one. Osian is mid-ranking in the top 100. I know three.

Really need to choose! Thoughts? Help, please?

I like Osian! Noah is blah and Theo Mann reminds me of devil children...

The Omen. Blush

Namelessbabe · 18/05/2016 00:58

Unicorn you've just ruined Theo for me there! Not necessarily a bad thing if it helps us reach a decision!

Theodore Mann to bypass the Omen problem?

My preference is Osian though!

Namelessbabe · 18/05/2016 11:21

I think we'd plan to register him as Theodore anyway autumn but use Theo day to day, so The Omen is still an issue. This is so so hard!!

Love Osian. It would have been top of my list of DD had been a boy.

Namelessbabe · 18/05/2016 16:24

We do like Osian but given what's been pointedout below re: Theo (The Omen) should I worry that Osian Munn would be O Munn on a credit card etc?!

I think Osian is the nicest name of the bunch but combined with your surname reminds me of the poem Ozymandias, this could be good or bad.

Brainnotbrawn · 18/05/2016 17:39

I have never seen Osian. I presume I am mispronouncing it. We have Oisin in Ireland (Ush een) is it similar?

GreenBeans17 · 18/05/2016 22:07

Noah is my favourite... I love it so much! Theo is nice. I wouldn't know how to pronounce Osian, but I'm no where near Wales! Blush

autumnmoon · 19/05/2016 10:13

how's it going nameless? you'll have to let us know what you decide!

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/05/2016 10:49

I like Osian best.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 21/05/2016 21:10

Osian is glorious. If we didn't already have one in the immediate family that would be on my list.

Namelessbabe · 24/05/2016 14:15

We've still not decided!! We've dropped Theo due to 'The O Munn' as pointed out upthread. We've also dropped Noah as a result of similar reservations we had about how it goes (or doesn't) with the surname, and has mentioned by others. That leaves Osian which we do like, and Reuben, a late entry!!! With Osian I wonder if it's odd to give just one of our 3 children a Welsh name? And I wonder about pronouciation, though not spelling as our other kids names are easier and still get mis-spelled! Osian feel bold?! We really like Reuben too but not keen on the shortenings (Roo, Rubes) and so he'd have to be Reuben all the time. And I do like a name you can shorten! Does Osh work as a shortening of Osian?

I don't like Reuben. There are a lot of them and it reminds me of Rubens' whose work I actively loathe Blush

Artandco · 24/05/2016 14:25

How about:

Roman
Rohan
Rudi
Rory

Orlando
Otis
Otto
Owen

Namelessbabe · 24/05/2016 23:15

Thanks Art but between me and DH, none of those work.

Osian or Noah? We have to decide today!!!

Osian! By a country mile ... fab name, Noah is okay (glad you dropped Theo, it is totally meh).

stiffstink · 26/05/2016 10:51

Osian, definitely. Ozzy and Osh are brilliant nicknames too.

CaramelPrincess · 26/05/2016 10:57

My DS is called Theo so I definitely vote for that Smile

Namelessbabe · 26/05/2016 12:52

We are leaning towards Osian... But saw yday that Noah is the #1 boys name across the US at the moment. A mixed blessing?!

OP posts:
HouseOfBiscuits · 26/05/2016 13:08

Still voting for Osian!

Noah sounds a bit groany and negative to me. NO-uh.

Namelessbabe · 26/05/2016 13:50

I know what you mean House! For a shortening (and we tend to, however short the full name is!) 'No' is a bit odd.

Our Osian is Osh 80% of the time x
