DD1 is due in three weeks, we've narrowed it down to the last three names... The problem is we can't pick! So I need to canvas some opinions... Which do you like best?

Erica
Molly
Olivia

Middle names will be Rose Alison and surname has three syllables...

Please wise mners help me!!!

Molly

plimsolls · 09/05/2016 22:22

I really love Erica. Although I'd go Erica Alison Rose rather than Erica Rose Alison.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 09/05/2016 22:33

Well as the proud owner of one. I'd have to say Molly

CakeRattleandRoll · 10/05/2016 01:32

Erica

DramaAlpaca · 10/05/2016 01:38

I like Olivia best, followed by Erica, although I prefer the Erika spelling.

No offence, but Molly is too cutesy for me.

Bellalilysmith123 · 10/05/2016 01:57

Olivia

FirstTimeMummy25 · 10/05/2016 02:06

My votes with Olivia however I think Alison rose flows better that way round.
Good luck :)

Raeray · 10/05/2016 03:11

Erica gets my vote - although I agree with previous poster who preferred Erica Allison Rose order of the names if you would consider that?

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 10/05/2016 03:30

Olivia

MadMadamMim123 · 10/05/2016 08:06

Thanks everyone, it seems it's a pretty even (ish) split!!

Not precious at all about the order of the middle names so that's another thing to consider. It's so hard to choose! This is definitely last baby for us and I think it's more about just not using the other two rather than picking one iykwim.

For the record, my reservations about all three are
Olivia - too popular, however I don't know of any and a poll of friends with young kids in our area don't know many either
Molly - DD will have a cousin (who, tbf, we rarely see with an 11 year age gap) called Holly and I am worried about it being cutesy as she gets older. But I don't like the more grown up names that you can shorten to Molly (like Margaret etc)
Erica - I have a good friend with this name, lack of nickname potential, plus DH thinks it's too long with our surname.

I never had this trouble with my DSes!! (but actually I knew they wouldn't be my last ones!)

More thoughts!
I've never met a baby or child Olivia (despite living and working with children in London)

Olivia has more syllables than Erica

Could Molly be a nickname for Olivia?

Nicknames for Erica:
Ricci (love the sound of Ricky for a girl!)
RiRi
Ezza
Essi

AtiaoftheJulii · 10/05/2016 08:35

Molly is my favourite.
Olivia's fine, plenty of nickname potential.
Don't like Erica.

Purplebluebird · 10/05/2016 08:41

Molly or Olivia

Tactfulcactus · 10/05/2016 08:41

Molly is lovely. Don't like Erica. Olivia is ok, but my next door neighbours on both sides each have granddaughters called Olivia!! So I hear it a lot....

RaeSkywalker · 10/05/2016 08:50

Sounds like you're leaning towards Olivia but worried about the popularity? If you like it, go for it. I like Olivia or Molly (don't think that Molly is a nickname for Olivia, sorry).

Meeep · 10/05/2016 08:54

Erica, the other two are too ubiquitous. And I think it's the prettiest sounding too come to think of it.

ABitAsleep · 10/05/2016 09:18

Erica - I like it, but is it just me that always pronounces it in an american accent in my head? Most 'unusual' (less common) choice, and can be cute enough for a child, but sensible enough for a adult so i think it's my favourite.

Molly - I like it, but it's a bit cutesy. Lovely for a baby, but i'm not sure as an adult. Can you imagine a Prime Minister Molly? Although there are plenty of babies now with similar names so in 20 years time there will be lots of adult Molly's, etc.

Olivia - Lovely, but too popular for me at the moment. If that doesn't bother you, i would say go for it because it is very nice, suitable for baby and adult. I like the nn Ollie for a girl, even though she would probably get Livvy.

pilates · 10/05/2016 15:40

Molly is my favourite, dislike Erica and Olivia is ok.

soundsystem · 11/05/2016 20:38

Erica! I think it's a really strong name, unusual without being weird. I like Olivia as well but it is very popular: too popular for me but if you're less bothered it's nice and classic. Molly seems a bit... Inconsequential? Wet? I don't know, it sounds like it should be short for something (I know it isn't).

TeradelFuego · 11/05/2016 20:45

Traditionally, Molly was 'short' for Mary (although obviously it isn't actually any shorter). I know what you mean, it does seem a bit nicknamey. Nice, though.

In the same way Sally was short for Sarah and Nancy for Anne (actually longer!).

notsureaboutthis1992 · 11/05/2016 20:58

Olivia or Molly! (I prefer Olivia though)

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 11/05/2016 21:04

I'd rule Erica out as I think it sounds harsh.

Love Olivia but not the short forms and names always get changed during school years.

So I'd choose Molly off your list.

KoalaDownUnder · 12/05/2016 13:40

Olivia (very overused though) or Molly. I like them about equal.

I really really dislike Erica. So harsh and unpleasant.

GruffaloPants · 13/05/2016 08:51

Erica.

Olivia is incredibly popular and Molly is a bit cutesy for me.
