Does a BOYS' name exist that isn't overly popular, sound similar to something overly popular, about to become overly popular or just plain boring or dated?

Blatantly plagiarising from another poster's thread but I have been wondering this about boys' names. DH & I are expecting our first baby in September and we've agreed on a girls' name but have absolutely no idea what to call our baby if it's a boy (we don't know the sex).

All suggestions would be much appreciated!

John.

Simple, classic yet isn't popular at the moment!

Thank you! Lots of great suggestions to mull over. Quite a few are taken by family members already (both my dad's name and DH's name have cropped up!), and others have been vetoed by DH (Peter 😂😂😂) but plenty of food for thought. Thank you! 🌼🌻

Both of my DS's names are on those lists!

I also like Patrick and Miles.

Ben, Toby, Max, Finley.... these are not supposed to be 'overly popular' Confused. Not sure where you live but there are more than enough of them around here...

MadameJosephine · 10/05/2016 21:48

I really wanted either Edison or Darwin for a boy but both were vetoed by DP. I live in hope that if I keep suggesting them on here one day a mumsnetter will use one of them Smile

In answer to your question OP - no. I genuinely think that such a name doesn't exist. Or if it does, I wish I could bloody well find it Grin

Pipilangstrumpf · 20/05/2016 08:51

Out of the thousands of names used last year (ONS list), MOST of them are neither too popular (only top 100) nor boring (depends how you define boring) nor dated (previous top 100). How about these:

Angus
Benedict
Christopher
Dominic
Elliot
Fabian
Hector
Ivan
Julius
Lawrence
Miles
Otis
Patrick
Quentin
Rufus
Tristan
Vincent
