Hi, we were all set on the name Summer but we told my in laws a few days ago and their reaction wasn't good and now we're having a wobble.

What are your honest thoughts on it?

Thanks

It's not a name I would use myself but it is nice.

Nice name.

But never tell anyone until you are introducing the baby! (Also don't tell anyone about your alternate names in case you have another child the same gender 18 months later and everyone was slightly snippy about it...)

It is a pretty name, it is quite hippy.

If you like it, stick with it. Once the baby is here, they won't care.

It' a cute and lovely name! :)
And it's your child. Please disregard their opinion and pick the name you and your DP love. They'll learn to love it!

You could think about giving her a more traditional middle name. Like Summer Katherine, for example...?

I don't like it. But whether your IL's do or nor shouldn't sway you in the slightest. We didn't use a family name for DS1 that had been going for several generations to PIL horror. Your child, your choice.

I'm growing to like it the more I say it. It's pretty. Really lovely. Definitely wouldn't say it's outrageous or odd.

It makes me think of Australia - was there a girl in Neighbours called Summer?
