Irish short list

As my DH basically wants to name nuns we went back to the drawing board from Caitlín after deciding that people saying Kate-Lynn would be too much of a battle. Although it could possibly be a middle name

So we think this is the short list.

Bláithín
Máire Bríd (double first name)
Deirbhile
Gormflaith

Concepta, Assumpta might be nice Grin

Why no Welsh names under consideration?

Malvolia · 28/04/2016 10:10

Attracta!

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 28/04/2016 10:24

'Saoirse as inertia' It's the Dub accent ! Grin

Canyouforgiveher · 28/04/2016 12:09

Concepta et al which were on his original list.

LTB!

Concepta et al which were on his original list.

This is all very troubling.

I suspect you've had some kind of timeslip romance OP, it's the only explanation. You fell over, hit your head and when you came round you found yourself at the 1932 Eucharistic Congress where you fell in love with your DH. So in our world he's actually 108.

The above seems more believable to me than the idea that a young Irish man would seriously suggest his daughter be called Concepta!

squoosh · 28/04/2016 13:20

My lovely friend Connie (born on the feast of the Immaculate Conception aka culchie Christmas shopping day) allows people to believe her full name is Constance.

Connie sounds like a wise woman! People probably suspect she's a Concepta but don't want to humiliate her by asking Grin

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 28/04/2016 14:22

a young Irish man

Sorry OP - are you sure you are not being wound up from a height?

MarthaCliffYouCunt · 28/04/2016 14:41

I don't quite get the 'Saoirse as inertia' thing

I say seersha. My cousin who is called saoirse pronounces it sersha. I am from ulster, she is from [northern town near manchester]

Why no Welsh names? I wanted Mair. Which I thought DH would go for because it does conform to his desire for an older name, although it isn't like it isn't used. But he isn't a fan and really wants an Irish name. He argues that because my parents are Irish, having an Irish name represents both of us (if that makes sense)

squoosh :) I know how ridiculous he is and I have no idea why he has such bizarre tastes in names. I do worry for him. He is older than me but not 1950s old..
I'm seriously considering excluding him from any name conversations.

I actually like Attracta. Which is worrying.

Oh please, please, please post the other names on your DP's list. I'm wetting myself here at the idea of a little baby Concepta.

In fact, why not go the whole hog with Immaculata?
