Help with Welsh name ideas?

We have decided on using a Welsh first name with a more 'normal' English middle name which baby could use if preferred in the future, however we're struggling with which names to choose.

For girls I like names like Arianwen or Eiddwen (wouldn't use it though because of geographical association) with more English/easy to pronounce middle names like Georgiana/Charlotte/Penelope or something.
For boys things like Bryn or Aneirin. Also really like Cai but to me it seems like more of a nick name because it's so short (as does Bryn).

Also slightly worried that giving an obviously Welsh name together with obviously not-Welsh middle name is odd? Finding it difficult to find first/middle name combinations which sound good together.

Very grateful for any suggestions and opinions!

Arianwen is lovely. It's easy to say. I think it's fine to have names that aren't the usual friends and family get used to it and it's a good conversation starter.

I'm Welsh living in England. I agree that it would good to use names that aren't to hard to get your tongue around.

There are plenty names that I'll draw from my school years....

For girls I would have -

Rhiannon
Nia
Catrin
Bethan
Anwen

For boys -

Idris
Emerys
Huw
Rhodri
Gwyn

I hear 'Arianwen' often in here as Welsh name but I've never met one with it as a first name. The everyday use of 'arian' means money in Welsh which would put me off.

Just to add, out if my list I think Idris and Anwen are my favs. Very very old Welsh. Classic.

It would be brynmor. Stupid iphone!

Laquila
Meredith is male in Welsh, the more Welsh spellings would be Maredudd first followed by Meredydd

We know an Eirlys. Means snowdrop I think?

I'm Welsh and DH is indian and we're having one indian and one Welsh name I don't think mixing Welsh with English is weird at all.

Arianwen is one of the names we've picked for a girl.

I hadn't actually associated it with money until someone just mentioned it on here! I still think it's beautiful and love that I don't know any Arianwens, a lot of names were ruled out because they reminded me of girls I went to school with!

I think the official meaning I found was silver white or fair child but that was online so possibly not accurate!

I think go with what you're happy with and sod everyone else! People will eventually learn how to pronounce the more difficult names and it's always funny when you get something in the mail that's spelt wrong from both mine (indian surname) and hubby's (very long complicated indian name) point of view x

Bryn is actually a shortened version of Brynly (Bryn-lee), or at least it was for my Gramp. I love Angharad for a girl, and I work with a Rhianwen, which might be easier for people to pronounce if they're more familiar with the name Rhian. I have a friend called Llinos, although lots of people struggle with the double L sound, same with Heledd. You could have Huw or Dafydd for a boy also.

Arian does indeed mean silver, and Wen would be white. A lovely combo in meaning. However unfortunately in day to day Welsh Arian is often used for 'money' although 'pres' is used too which means brass.

It's still a lovely name but I would worry that people would shorten it to Arian.

I love Arianwen and know one who lives in England & never seems to come across pronunciation issues. Also love Eleri, pronounced eh-lair-ee.
