No. sorry to all the Patricias out there but I really don't like it and the shortened versions - Trish, Trisha, Pat, Patty etc are worse.

Maybe if you didn't grow up in Ireland though you might like it ...

Alisvolatpropiis · 15/04/2016 00:15

No, no thrice no.

My Grandma is called Patricia, it's still a no.

Itinerary · 15/04/2016 01:33

No

mathanxiety · 15/04/2016 01:45

Shuddering here at the thought of it.

LucyBabs · 15/04/2016 01:49

Ahh my late Mam was Patricia... always makes me smile when I see the name.

KoalaDownUnder · 15/04/2016 02:28

No. My mum is a Patricia and she loathes it. Made all her children promise not to saddle any granddaughters with it as a middle name!

tinytoucan · 15/04/2016 03:18

I considered Patricia as a middle name if my DS had been a girl, after my nan. In the end we decided on a different name but obviously didn't need it anyway! I wouldn't choose it as a first name personally, although I do think it's quite pretty (but I seem to be a minority!)

ThirtyNineWeeks · 15/04/2016 03:20

You're kiddingng, right?

My wonderful mum's name. I love her to the moon and back but no. Just no.

InionEile · 15/04/2016 03:48

Love Patrick. Patrica...not so much. It's a bit mumsy. But I am Irish so that might be bias on my part as it was overused among a certain generation in Ireland.

I have a French friend called Patricia who uses the nickname 'Pati' said with a French accent and she is the only person I know who can make the name sound stylish!

TippyTappyLappyToppy · 15/04/2016 03:53

No. It's horrible. Really dowdy and frumpy sounding.

bittapitta · 15/04/2016 04:00

There are two in my child's nursery school! Seems to be a popular Eastern European name at the moment. Both spelt Patrizia I think but the staff seem to pronounce it Patricia.

bippitybopityboo · 15/04/2016 04:32

DH'S nanna is Patricia and we was considering Patsie for our baby but found out were expecting a boy!

NadiaWadia · 15/04/2016 05:51

I'm not sure people are ready for the re-appearance of Patricia as a baby name, most Patricias must be 60+. However if I block my associations with women of this age group, I can see it is actually quite a good name and Patty is cute as a nickname. Maybe you could be the brave pioneer to start its comeback!

Spandexpants007 · 15/04/2016 06:15

Patience peony palomino

Pat is a funny nickname though

Jenijena · 15/04/2016 06:28

I know a teenage Patricia, she is the youngest of a lot of sisters. It has certainly got me over the association of 60+ year old women...

mrsschu · 15/04/2016 07:36

No, it's dreadful. It's so dated now and not in a good way. Growing up in Ireland loads of my friends' mums were called Patricia, they'd all be in their 60's now. Not due a revival.

cornishglos · 15/04/2016 07:41

Love it.

Eachleechsparethumb · 15/04/2016 07:46

I think it's cute

GoldPlatedBacon · 15/04/2016 07:48

I rather like it. I'd probably go for Patsy as the shortened version. It's better imo than Vivienne and Sylvia, which according to Mn, are pretty names.

I think it sounds good, haven't met any young ones, the odd Trish or Tricia in their 50s. My aunt is one & in her late 70s (born 17 March).

Londonmum1969 · 15/04/2016 08:21

Also grew up in Ireland, a big no I'm afraid.

ScarletForYa · 15/04/2016 08:32

Yea, NO!
