Hey MN,

DH, and I, came across the name "Melody" - she can then have the NN of "Mel", but still have a beautiful/slightly quirky name!

Opinions?

Lovely name, friends DD called Melody, she's 12 and never had an issue with it and likes her name.

I knew twins, Melanie and Melody, so it seems a by naff to me and very late 1970s.

I think it's a really pretty name, I also love Elodie (Ellie or Elle) for short which is very similar.

VolvicTouchofFruit · 30/03/2016 13:56

I really like it - it's very pretty, but 'normal', and underused. I quite like the NN (Mel) but I'd probably try and use the actual name Smile go for it! Elodie is nice, too...

I love Melody, but really don't like 'Mel' (it sounds masculine to me).

Melody is pretty, beautiful, nice soft flow.

I Love it. It's in my top 5 but the only thing that puts me of is the nn Mel

Dr Who...

I have a friend with this name. She is in her words tone deaf with the voice of a foghorn and despises it. She goes by her middle name. It's tough when you have a name that has such a well known meaning I think

My cat's called Melody. She's Parisian and was named after Melody Nelson. I wanted to call her Clawdine but got out voted.

I really like it. I also like Elodie but there are so many Ellies around I'd be inclined to stick with Melody.

MLGs · 04/04/2016 18:27

Hate it, sorry.

ktt512 · 04/04/2016 19:00

Melody is top of our list for any future baby girls, my OH is very fussy but he absolutely adores it. He's wants to call her marshmallow as a nn. I love the nn 'Mellie', not such a fan of 'Mel' though, I can see 'Liddy' becoming a nn out of it too.

I like that it's a bit unusual and secretly I love that the Little Mermaid's daughter is called Melody too haha.

I certainly don't think it's prissy or wet though, but then I wouldn't because I like it Smile

I love it, if I have a girl, she'll be Grace Melody Smile
