Are there any other accepted spellings of daisy?

Any 'regional variations' ?

Madelief is dutch for daisy (and an accepted name). No idea other than that though Confused

MrsLettuce · 23/03/2016 22:52

Oh, is a nn of Margaret of course, from the flowers Marguerite.

Pipsweet1 · 23/03/2016 22:52

Daisey I have seen! But Daisy is the prettiest version by far

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 23/03/2016 23:32

No votes for 'daisie' then?

I have one in class coming up. Poor daisie.

How do you pronounce the Dutch version?

OP posts:
MrsLettuce · 24/03/2016 10:00

Thus: Madelief

MrsLettuce · 24/03/2016 10:01

And no, no, no to 'creative' spellings of Daisy! Just looks illiterate.

IoraRua · 24/03/2016 14:41

When I worked in the States I taught a Daysee. Your Daisie could be much worse off Grin

Why on earth do you want to subject your child to a lifetime of 'no its spelled differently'. It doesn't make a child unique, it makes their parents look dumb.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 24/03/2016 22:15

Centigrade

Exactly!

I think her sister has an equally dodgy name...

Along the lines of 'ray-shell'

Lettuce

I was close! I like that. Almost similar to Madeleine.

I was once served by a Joolie.

I think Daisie looks pretty, like Maisie. But yes, lots of misspellings ahead. I have a common name though that had a few variants and the frequent misspellings I have now learnt to let it wash over me.

redshoeblueshoe · 24/03/2016 23:22

I know someone who was going to call her baby Dayzee, thank goodness she had a boy

2016IsANewYearforMe · 24/03/2016 23:32

I would spell it M-a-r-g-a-r-e-t. Wink

It's nice to use a sweet nickname when a child is little, or with familiars. But, it's also nice to have a proper, serious, grownup name when the occasion calls for it. That way, you get the best of both.
