Do you like it with maddie as a nn?

Maddie makes me think of someone mad, sorry.

I really like it. I also like Madeleine (or any other spelling)

Not keen but I quite like Madeleine.

My DD is a Madeleine nn Maddie. I think it is a lovely name (obvs!) I chose it because it is beautiful and traditional and not too common.

Madison also isn't that common and is also nice (IMO)
I would say it is trendy and modern but still girly.

Dislike Madison but Madeline is nice.

Not a fan. I think its getting quite common and i personally associate it with kids that are a bit rough. And Maddie is worse again .

Madison is a bit 90s to me.

I don't really like it, it's a bit chavvy (sorry but it is) and it's also quite dated it now. It was very faddy in the nineties and noughties as I remember, then sort of dropped off a cliff in popularity as these modern names tend to do after about ten years and become a bit naff.

If you like Maddie then Madeleine is much classier.

Madison is truely awful - Madeleine is lovely though.

It's definitely a stripper name in the US. Sorry. I don't know any Madisons in the UK.

If you use madeline it'll be constantly misspelled

My niece is Madeleine and it always gets Madeline - so that isn't true. Madeline is the 'English Alternative'

Well everyone on this thread has spelled it Madeleine (including my phone) so people will misspell it regularly

I find that people on Mumsnet tend to always like the original - they like the original Irish names, French names, etc.

In day to day life, people go for the most common/English alternative, in my area.

I'm just not keen on surname-names and place-names - I know it's not necessarily logical and there's no rationale for it particularly, but names I dislike tend to fall into that category. Unless they fall into other categories

But I also think Madison is actually already a bit dated.
