Is it too soon for a revival? I've always loved the name...

No definitely not too soon for a revival. It's a beautiful name, and there certainly won't many in her class. Unless every one copies you of course, which does often happen, when a name is brought back

EvianLiveYoung · 10/03/2016 22:15

It sounds really dated Sad but if you love it, use it! It certainly isn't bad Smile

pinkcan · 10/03/2016 22:18

I think it's a great name and I would use it.

Sophronia · 10/03/2016 22:21

I think it's a pretty name and due a comeback

Kamalena · 10/03/2016 22:27

A bit 90s but lovely name. If you like it use it x

Normandy144 · 10/03/2016 22:28

I know 3 Amanda's - ranging in age from 22 to 34. Neither of them are known by Mandy either. I think it's reasonably classic to not feel unusual.

If you can not think of Amanda Holden, it's a quite nice name. Hate Mandy though.

NadiaWadia · 11/03/2016 03:13

I wouldn't call it a 90s name - more 60s and 70s (well I went to school with loads of them).

It is actually a very pretty name and would be unusual now. Not so keen on 'Mandy' though.

Mclaren37 · 11/03/2016 04:34

Amanda sounds a bit dated to me, but it is nice. Mandy would not be good though.

FennyBridges · 11/03/2016 05:58

Fantastic name. Better than being one of a hundred Lilies and Poppies, Islas and Isabelles.

I teach 30 girls in one secondary class. 11-12 years old. 16 of them are called Emily, Chloe and Isabel/Isobel/Isabelle.

An Amanda would be lovely!

GoldPlatedBacon · 11/03/2016 07:17

I've always liked it. I believe it's currently fairly popular in Scandinavia

ABitAsleep · 11/03/2016 09:39

Bit old fashioned in my opinion, the only ones i know are in their 50s. Plus i'm not keen on Mandy. However, i'm sure it will make a comeback just like all the other names i would consider 'old-lady-ish' are starting to do Hmm

I prefer Aimee or Abigail, if you want to stick to something similar, but more modern.

CrystalMcPistol · 11/03/2016 10:23

It's one of those names that will come back in a massive way in about 20 years time. You'll just be ahead of the curve!

Floralnomad · 11/03/2016 10:30

Definitely a 60/70s name , I really like it , dislike Mandy intensely as it has a totally different type of feel to it but it's easy enough to just tell people not to use that .

CrystalMcPistol · 11/03/2016 10:35

And yes, Mandy is easily avoided. None of the Amandas I know are ever called Mandy.

3luckystars · 11/03/2016 11:03

I think its lovely. I know 2 Amanda's and they both love their name and are really amazing women. I love the meaning too and think its a great name.

DontKillMyVibe · 11/03/2016 17:47

The only Amanda's I know are in their 30s and 40s. I can't really imagine a baby Amanda nowadays tbh

RockUnit · 11/03/2016 18:39

I really like it and think it's due a comeback. I know a lovely Amanda.

Alfieisnoisy · 11/03/2016 18:47

I am a Mandy but love Amanda when it is used. I am 50 so yes it is an older name but would be a one off in a class.

crapfatbanana · 11/03/2016 20:50

It's lovely.

SpiderHunt · 11/03/2016 20:50

Hate it. I was one but used deed poll in my late teens, which I don't regret. Horribly dated.

Ikeameatballs · 11/03/2016 20:53

I really like it.

I know one who is known as Amanda, one who is known as Manda and one Mandy.

mrsschu · 11/03/2016 21:43

It's very dated IMO. It was pretty common in the 80's/maybe early 90's so I'd expect an Amanda to at least be 25 but probably a good bit older. I'm not keen on it.

allegretto · 12/03/2016 08:57

I like it - a real name and unusual atm. Go for it!
