Irish/Celtic girls name for dd

Poor child is a week old and still nameless! Her brothers are Aidan and Oisín.

Shortlist before she was born was -

Niamh
Muireann
Cara
Fódhla/Fóla
Nainsí
Sorcha

But now we can't agree. Dh's mum was Nancy so we might use that or Anne for a middle name (obv not if we use Nainsí as first name).

Any and all suggestions welcome - I like Fóla and Muireann best I think but DH being infuriatingly non- commital, grrr.

Not ignorant at all MadSprocker. If you're Irish or have huge crazy Irish family with many of these names like me they look completely normal but if not they just look like a shit load of vowels and the odd consonant chucked at a page Grin! My DH is always chuckling away at the ridiculousness as he spells mine and DDs names to people for the millionth time.

Roise is really beautiful but I see why you wouldn't want to use it.

Other names I like are Fiadh and Laoise. Congratulations!

My new granddaughter is Orlaith Kate. My daughter in law is Irish. I think it's lovely.

Themodernuriahheep · 11/03/2016 20:11

Great.

Themodernuriahheep · 11/03/2016 20:12

Nainsi Brigid

Whatever the Irish of Patricia is..

MrsPickwick · 11/03/2016 20:48

What about Ailbhe? Or Aifric?

IoraRua · 12/03/2016 19:25

Sinead is a bit dated in Ireland imo, I'm guessing op is here. Pretty name but to me it'd be like naming her Louise or Carol.

Riona, maybe?

guineapig1 · 12/03/2016 19:30

Are you specifically looking for irish names or would scottish/welsh/cornish/breton also be ok?

What about:
Erin
Gwen (and its longer welsh variants - Gwenllian, Gwennan etc)
Sioned (welsh version of sinead - not dated at all)
Manon ( welsh but also works in french)
Mari (also has scottish/irish variations)

guineapig1 · 12/03/2016 19:32

Also Efa (welsh for Eve and pronounced as "Ava" in English)
