Are these names too twee/cute?

Emily, Sophie and Zoe?

Me and DH don't like strange names but nor do we like really common ones.

I can't tell if these names are too simple though?

mrsschu - Dull is the perfect descriptive word, that's kind of what I meant instead of twee/cute Grin

My husband also likes Elyse (E- lease) but I'm really not keen.

I'm one of those and I was always such a tomboy and am in no way twee or cute and have never felt my name didn't suit me!

wispaxmas · 28/02/2016 14:11

Also, my closest friend in school was Zoë and she was similarly tomboyish, so I don't think the name is twee at all.

Spandexpants007 · 28/02/2016 14:13

Not keen on Zoe at all. Emily and Sophie are classic though

zazie7 · 28/02/2016 14:25

None of them are twee and cutesy at all. There are a lot of Emilys and Sophies around if that bothers you, but they are still lovely, classic names. I like Elise spelt like that but not with a y.

DiamondStuddedFlunkie · 28/02/2016 17:43

Nothing twee about them but Emily and Sophie are very very popular.

Zoe is lovely.

slithytove · 28/02/2016 19:43

Zoe is pronounced zo technically

mathanxiety · 29/02/2016 00:15

I like Zoe more than the other two, and certainly more than Elyse (which will morph into Ellie).

JudgeJudySheindlin · 29/02/2016 01:22

Emily was out favourite name when our DD was born in 1993. It was however the most popular name on the planet in 1993. This put us off & we chose a different name which is now becoming increasingly popular. Sophie was also on our list back then, as was Hannah, Alice & Charlotte. DH kept suggesting Pauline. I think he was joking?Hmm

Whatever you choose will feel right when the time comes OP

mathanxiety · 29/02/2016 06:18

DS (b 1993) would have been Emily if he hadn't been DS. He would have been one of seven Emilys in his class.

Hannah and Alice were also on my list Shock, along with Grace, and Joan Hmm.

I really like Pauline but love Paulina or Polina.

Writerwannabe83 · 29/02/2016 08:17

I hadn't realised that Sophie and Emily were so popular/common.

I really like the name Diana but DH really isn't keen.

He got to name our son though so I keep telling him that it's my turn now.

It took 22 weeks for us to agree upon a boys name (we found out the gender at 16 weeks) so God knows what we'd do if we had another boy, we'd have no idea what to call it Grin

Writerwannabe83 · 29/02/2016 12:21
