Is two middle names too much? Both are short names but with meaning to us both.

If they mean something to you then use them.

Our DD has 2 middle name, one of which is a surname - long story short DH's grandmother remarried and her new husband adopted DH's father who was 3 at the time and they changed his surname. We've used the "blood" surname as an acknowledgement to DH's dead grandfather who was killed during WWII.

It's fine. Your little one can use either one of them or both together when they grow up. Middle names are pretty flexible. Our kids both have a family name and my maiden name as middle names.

It's absolutely fine regardless of whether they are meaningful family names or just names you like! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Both of mine, and the next one will have two. A name we like and my surname. In fact, the next one might even have three because we ought to put DH's dad's name in there somewhere and it doesn't really go with our choice of first name...

All of mine have 2 middle names - one of which is my surname before I got married and let down the sisterhood by taking DH's surname.

GooseberryRoolz · 27/02/2016 09:42

No it's fine, IMO, unless the first name and surname and double-barrelled.

Completely fine. My DD has 3 middle names and my DS has 4. But that's because I wanted their names to mean something - combined, the meaning of my DD's name is "Pure jewel of the sea", for example. DD's 19 now and it's not impacted upon her life any - and, actually, having just asked her, only a very few of her friends actually know she has more than a first name, let alone what they all mean! Grin

If the names are meaningful to you/DH and won't embarrass your DC if ever they do have to utter them in public, go for it. Plus, it gives them more options for potential name changes when they're older (my DM is known by her middle name, as is one of my DB's purely because of their dislike for their first names - although as my DM was named after her grandfather, and very few people realise there's a masculine and a feminine version of the name, and plump for the masculine version every single time, whilst my DB was named after our uncle who died shortly after being born, I can completely understand why!).

Thanks. Names are my late grandfather's and also my FIL who just passed away - though we are now considering using his name as the first name and our chosen first name as a middle name. No double barrelling here.
