Beatrice or Beatrix?

Beatrix - less common and Ms. Potter was pretty awesome.

Beatrice. I used to think it was awful. I think it is beautiful now.

What is the difference? Same meaning I assume... I love the name and like Bea as a nickname

Beatrice. I love Beatrix potter but I feel as a baby name it's got that feel of "we're trying to be a bit different" about it

I would say them differently so Beatrice would have a 'ss' sound at the end whereas Beatrix would have an 'x' sound. I prefer Beatrice.

Have googled Beatrix is Latin, the other spelling is Italian apparently. Wikipedia could be wrong.

Beatrice. I find Beatrix a bit harsher.

And don't use beatha - makes me think of whiskey as uisce beatha is Irish for whiskey.

For some reason I find Beatrice more feminine and elegant - definitely prefer that spelling.

Love Beatrix! :) I think it has more opportunities for nice nn too - Bea, Trix, Trixie.

Beatrix sounds like a character from Asterix, or BellaTrix LeStrange. I would go for Beatrice.
