Opinions on Griffin (Finn)

I like Finn and Finley, but it's just too popular! I have looked at all the other names which could make Finn. However, I saw Griffin and really like it! I'll interchange between Griffin and Finn - I'm sure his friends/extended family will call him Griff/Griffy, but I like that too. Opinions?

I love it! Never met a Griffin but I thinks it's very cool. I wouldnt think twice about Finn as a nn either. People tend to go for the first part of the name for a nn so yes he'll get Griff, but if I met a Finn that told me he was a Griffin then it would make sense to me. Smile

What about Fintan? Griffin is ok, but Finn is nicer. I'd assume Welsh connections or Harry Potter fans tbh.

Although if you're going to call him Finn is it really that big of a deal where the name on his birth certificate falls in the popularity stakes? It's a name in its own right, and a great one at that.

I love Griff!

Griffin, whilst not my taste, is so much nicer and more interesting than Finn or Finlay/Finley, of which there are just too many these days.

Sorry not my cup of tea. Dont mind Finn bit im not really sure why everyones going mad for FInlays etc

GabiSolis · 22/02/2016 19:13

IMO Finn is really nice, Griffin is not. You're right that Finn is overused though. What about Flynn?

KatieT12 · 22/02/2016 22:33

I love it! Griffin with the nn Finn is a great alternative to the millions of Finlays.

Mouseinahole · 23/02/2016 08:28

Finbar?

duckduckquack · 23/02/2016 08:42

I know a guy called 'Gryff'. Not a nickname or shortened version of anything, I think it's cool.

Gummibearchen · 23/02/2016 15:11

Griffin is nice and Griff is a cool nickname. Much nicer than Finn, which I don't like at all. Also, wouldn't the emphasis be of Griff, not the fin part?
