Chester?

What's the general opinion on "Chester" for a boy?

We're having a boy and are really struggling for names. The only boys name I have ever absolutely loved is DSs name, Harry.

I wasn't bothered about Harry being popular as I loved it so much and I've never regretted it, but this time around I fancy something a little bit different.

Is Chester a "proper" name or do you think it sounds completely ridiculous?!

Really like it!

tinofbiscuits · 03/02/2016 20:39

I don't like place names as first names, sorry.

pookamoo · 03/02/2016 20:41

Dog name. Sorry!

FishOn · 03/02/2016 20:43

Nope it's a cat - my cat's called Chester Grin

SauvignonBlanche · 03/02/2016 20:45

I love Chester - I live there.
FIL called his dog Chester but I wouldn't do that to a human.

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/02/2016 21:01

To be clear, I know it's "chest of drawers"!

Alice010 · 27/02/2018 06:45

Gorgeous vintage name, cute for a baby and strong for a man. Predicted to make a comeback.

Quickerthanavicar · 27/02/2018 06:59

Remind me of Chester Tate in Soap. Yes I am old.

nooka · 27/02/2018 07:00

Automatically makes me think 'Chester Draws' and then of the Fast Show sketches about Arthur Atkinson so my association is terribly unfunny old comedy shows. So sorry ridiculous rather than proper really.

chezmk1988 · 27/02/2018 07:40

Don't like it sorry

I'm guessing the baby was named a while ago now.

MammieBear · 27/02/2018 09:29

Nothing wrong with it in my opinion, it's got a cuddly bear image to me.

WowserBowser · 27/02/2018 09:47

Gary Gaz The Parsnip has just named his son Chester, as well as Holly and Davina

Lavenderdays · 27/02/2018 09:48

I quite like it, dd knows one at pre-school and it always makes me smile when she says his name.

TatianaLarina · 27/02/2018 09:56

Awful. I know a dog called Chester.

Cosmoa · 27/02/2018 14:00

Chester is most definitely a name and one I love dearly!

Mostly because I was a fan of Linkin Park growing up and the singer, the late beloved Chester Bennington, has always been one of my favorite vocalists!

Cosmoa · 27/02/2018 14:00

Oops haha yes this child has well and truly been named!
