Could you give some opinions on these names? Maybe rate in order of preference. Thanks

Layla

Churchillian · 30/01/2016 20:45

Leila has been around for several generations in my family and has always been pronounced Leela (as in rhymes with Sheila). Layla is a completely different name as is Lila.

MissAlabamaWhitman · 30/01/2016 23:24

Layla
Poppy
Olivia

DramaAlpaca · 30/01/2016 23:27

Olivia & Layla in that order.

Poppy would be a long way down the list.

SquidTableau · 30/01/2016 23:29

Poppy
Olivia

layla. Sorry, just sounds too 'page 3' to me.

candykane25 · 30/01/2016 23:44

Poppy is classic I think. Dates from the 1920s. Popular but not overly so. It's fallen down the rankings.

Layla - it would be misspelt so that would put me off but it sounds nice.

I also prefer Olive to Olivia. It's a lovely name but at the moment there are so many I would go for something more unusual.

london32 · 31/01/2016 21:08

Definitely Layla
Olivia
Poppy / poppi - I'd avoid after poppi worthington case and future high profile case reviews/ news items etc may become a 'madeleine' type name

onehellofaride · 31/01/2016 21:19

Poppy
Olivia
Layla

I also think Layla sounds a bit page 3.

PunkAssMoFo · 31/01/2016 21:34

Layla.

I don't rate the others at all.

crispytruffle · 01/02/2016 10:46

Olivia and Poppy are very popular. Not overly keen on Layla I'd go for an alternative such as Lara which is very classic.

Pipilangstrumpf · 01/02/2016 13:47

Poppy and Olivia are overused imo so I'd choose Layla out of the three.

IoraRua · 02/02/2016 08:17

Layla, which I would spell Laila.
Then Poppy.
Finally a very very long way behind the others there's Olivia :)

TheDowagerCuntess · 02/02/2016 08:33

Leila ⬅️
Olivia

Poppy.

Anything but Poppy. It's so wet and over-used.

SevenOfNineTrue · 02/02/2016 08:39

Olivia

Poppy I simply do not like and Layla would always have me thinking of Eric Clapton.

FoxgloveStar · 05/02/2016 06:23

I'm a Leila and my sister in law is a Layla. I like my spelling much better although I've experienced minor pronunciation issues with people over the years but not too bad. "It's laaaay-la not liiiie-la or leeee-la" but find I never have to correct people in adulthood.

FoxgloveStar · 05/02/2016 06:26

I did have one teacher 'get down on his knees' and air guitar at me once re:Clapton but again this issue appeares to evaporated in adulthood.

TheDowagerCuntess · 05/02/2016 06:38

You do get some shit as a child with names, don't you?

I got 'necessary on a bike?' all through my childhood - wasn't even all that amusing the first time. No-one says it now.

SweetSuz · 05/02/2016 09:40

Poppy 100%
