No! I adore the name - it's popular, but so what!?

EmpressOfTheVulvaCupcakes · 29/01/2016 22:59

All the Ellas I know are great, strong women so that's what I associate the name with.

Ellie-Mae or suchlike would be cutesy, Ella is fine.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 29/01/2016 23:13

No not at all. In fact I think it's quite harsh sounding, TBH

SnuffleGruntSnorter · 29/01/2016 23:16

I like Ella, I'd personally use Eleanor and have Ella for short just to give her the choice when she's older

neonrainbow · 29/01/2016 23:20

Its a bit dull.

Marisabel · 29/01/2016 23:23

It's pretty common I think I know about 6 ellas under 5 yo
I do like the name though but be prepared for her to be 'Ella S' for example at school as there will be a few

Sophronia · 29/01/2016 23:27

Catherine Ella is lovely

MissAlabamaWhitman · 29/01/2016 23:32

Barbarella

Definitely

Monkeymonstermum · 30/01/2016 09:55

I like it - just be aware quite popular at the moment but if you love it then go for it.
Personally I'd use a longer version eg Eleanor or Gabriella and then Ella as nn but nothing wrong with Ella on its own.
