What do you think of this name honest opinions please.
Spelt Lila or Lilah.
Seems more unusual than Layla/Leila

Would you pronounce it Lee-la or Lie-la?
This is dd's nickname. I like it.

EdYouKateShaun · 28/01/2016 09:58

It's sweet. But not as nice as Delilah.

Pitterpatter1 · 28/01/2016 10:00

Lie-la pronounced

I really like it.. But without the H.

MrsWhirling · 28/01/2016 10:02

It's beautiful. It's Arabic. La-ila is also from the Koran.

Owllady · 28/01/2016 10:03

The Danish pronounce Laila, lilah too

Adeleslostbeehive · 28/01/2016 10:03

Lila, beautiful but don't like it with a H

LilaTheTiger · 28/01/2016 10:03

I think it's ACE ☺

cheapandcheerful · 28/01/2016 10:04

I would also go for the Lila spelling. I like it.

Sophronia · 28/01/2016 14:12

I like Lila a lot but not with the h. I'm surprised Lila isn't more popular as it's very similar to names like Lily and Isla which are top 10.

SparklyTinselTits · 28/01/2016 14:19

I like it Smile
My friends little girl is called Lilah....really annoying when iPhones autocorrect it to "lilac" though Hmm

Thenightswatch · 28/01/2016 14:35

I loved this name but DH didn't, although I do prefer the spelling Lyla

Pitterpatter1 · 28/01/2016 16:44

Nice to see lots of positive comments on it. Not so keen on the Lyla spelling tho!

thatstoast · 28/01/2016 16:46

I prefer Lilah. It looks stronger to me.

MissAlabamaWhitman · 29/01/2016 22:41

Delilah,
Lilah if you absolutely must.

Incidentally I rather like Lilac.

MamaLazarou · 29/01/2016 22:43

It's pretty. I know a little baby Lilah.

Stephieee · 29/01/2016 23:05

I love it! I'm seriously considering Delilah :)

BackforGood · 29/01/2016 23:26

When I read it, I would have said "lill - ah" - don't know if people struggling to pronounce it would bother you ?

One of my many criteria for names is that when you read them people have to know how to say them, and when you say them, people have to know how to spell them and this doesn't pass either of those tests so I woldn't go for it, but up to you how much (if at all?) that would bother you.

TheMouseThatRoared · 29/01/2016 23:27

It's lovely, Delilah is too.

NadiaWadia · 30/01/2016 00:36

Lovely, with or without the 'h' on the end. Simple and yet (surprisingly) unusual as pp said. A bit less 'full on' than Delilah, as well (although that is nice).

We have a Lilah, I fell in love with the name instantly and am quite pleased it's never become too popular.

We decided to spell it 'Lilah' as 'Lila' was often pronounced Lill-a or Lee-la. It was also the only way I'd ever seen it spelt in the much older generation of Elderly Lilah's.

PooDogMillionaire · 05/02/2016 19:31

It means dark or night in Hebrew and Arabic. An Israeli friend of mine tells me it's pronounced Ly-lach (as in loch) in Hebrew.
