Finlay? Is it too common now?

Finlay is in our top 5 boys names but worried it is quite popular and will sound dated quickly (not like a classic name).
Thoughts please?!

It's lovely. I know a few. If you are concerned about popularity what about just Finn or Flynn x

It's popular here in Scotland but I think it always has been and always will be. I know Findlays here from old men to babies.

Fintan is an Irish name. Nice, not very popular even in Ireland. But, all such names seem to get shortened to Finn (which I have always loved, but it's just too popular for me personally now).

I actually only know 1 Finlay and that's a friend of a friend's son.

Yes, Finn/Fin/Finlay/Finley has been very popular and we know quite a few aged 3-11.

In our office of about 25 people, 3 have a son called Finlay.

Finan is a possible option? It's an Irish name. Finn-awn is pronunciation.

I prefer Findlay as a spelling. I think it's a well-established name, in Scotland anyway, not faddy nor, so far as I am aware, overly popular. I like it.

I know a Finan too, it's a cool name and much less common that Finlay.

Findlay has always been around in Scotland. With or without the d. It's classic.
