My DH likes the name Edward if we have a boy, I like it but I'm not sure if it's to dated, I wouldn't want my child getting picked on for their name. Would that even happen? I don't know it's our first child.
I would really love to hear people's opinions.

Love it.

Its lovely, classic and can be adapted to whoever little DS wants to be later in life. Nothing to dislike about it at all.

I love the name Edward. It's my sons middle name and my Fathers name. I think those types of names are really nice for boys :0)

It's a classic. But also seems to be in vogue. Lots of Teddys around here.

Thank you so much everybody. Not one person has said they don't like it. That's very interesting. Your all making me love the name now Smile

This had made me happy (going through an awful divorce right now).
I have an Edward. There are 2 in his school (of about 200).
He's Edward, Eddie, Ed or Ted or little runt from his big bro.

tbtc20 · 18/01/2016 23:04

Oh and he had an unusual middle name.

omri · 18/01/2016 23:27

Yes - love it. It's classic and understated. And that is cool!

SoleBizzz · 18/01/2016 23:28

My Son's middle name. Michael Edward.

Phoebesss · 18/01/2016 23:32

Love it, but it doesn't go with our surname! :( go for it x

Tartyflette · 18/01/2016 23:39

I don't think you can ever go wrong with classic names like this. Edward, Henry, George, William -- all good, solid names (and all English kings!)

SoleBizzz · 18/01/2016 23:41

Norman has died. I like that name.

ds2 has Edward as a middle name. I still have no idea how we ended up with it as it wasn't anywhere on any of my name lists, we didn't discuss it and it's really close to DH's name but not quite. Plus we have a couple of friends called Edward and we didn't want to do the naming after anyone thing.

I suspect it's because we spent so long trying to figure out the first name that as we were walking up the path to the registrar to register the name on the last possible day we still hadn't really talked much about the middle name and dh just said it. Confused

however I hate the name Eddie/Eddy - I've never known dh as this but lots of his family call him by this and I don't associate it with him - usually to the point that we have strange conversations when they're asking for Eddie and I'm directing them to completely the wrong person at a gathering or saying that there's nobody called Eddie that lives at our house on the phone...

I digress. It can be a lovely name if you like it and you like (or at least agree upon) the nickname you want to use. It's a classic name that people know and feel comfortable with that can be turned into a cutesy baby name or have more grown up nick names as required but doesn't really date. You just need to figure out if you feel a connection with it if you're going to go with it for your ds...

It was the 31st most popular boys name in the UK in 2014, so it's not uncommon. I do like it a lot (prefer Ed/Eddy/Eddie to Ted/Teddy as a nn though!)

Tartyflette · 19/01/2016 08:46

Norman Stanley Fletcher, you are a habitual criminal..... Probably why it has died Grin
