I really like it but don't hear it very often. What do you think?

Headfirst that's what we call Dd most of the time too :)

WaitrosePigeon · 20/01/2016 07:48

I really like it!

I was at school with a Roseanne, just to add another long name which could be shortened to Rosie.

HeavyFrost · 20/01/2016 09:28

The only actual Rosie I know - as in, that's on her birth cert - is a cool, kick-ass, tomboyish five year old, so it doesn't have any cutie-pie connotations for me, though it clearly has for others.

I do agree that Rose, like May, has been 'downgraded' into something that gets stuck on with a hyphen, which is a pity.

I think it's sweet but dull. Lovely for a child but a bit cheesy for an adult.

TyrionLannistersShadow · 20/01/2016 10:08

My niece is Róisín and often called Rosie for short, I like it.

LordOfMisrule · 20/01/2016 10:18

I hear it very often! I know of 14 under 10, with the youngest a year old. And then one aged 26.

RookieMonster · 20/01/2016 10:27

I really liked Rosalind, but feared the natural nn especially as she got older, would be Roz. No thanks.

Jynxed · 21/01/2016 23:22

I have a teenaged Rosy (actual name, not shortened) and even at secondary school she is very happy with it, not too girly or babyish at all.

NewLife4Me · 21/01/2016 23:22

I love it so much and wish we had chosen it.
It is a lovely name.

thisisbloodyridiculous · 21/01/2016 23:24

I love Rose with Rosie as a nickname

BeautyIsTruth · 22/01/2016 12:45

I know two Rosies - one is 10 and the other is in her 40s but it's short for Rosemarie.

I love Rosie as a nn, I'd use it as a nn for Rosa.

dementedma · 23/01/2016 15:20

Dd is Rosie ( short for Rosanna) and is now 25. It still suits her and we haven't met another Rosie here. Her friends in Spain sometimes call her Rosita which is sweet.
Ds' first attempts at saying his big sisters name were unsuccessful. For that reason, she is still called Dodeez at home! Wink

hawaiibaby · 23/01/2016 16:02

It was always to be my future child's name and what we would have called DS had he been one! This pregnancy though I've gone off it completely and can't tell you why. We would have just registered her as Rosie, not Rose etc. and though I can still recognise it as a lovely name, I just find it a bit sweet now... my DH thinks it's hormones and still wants to use it though!

Love some of the longer versions on here, like Rosa and Rosita, but I think it is totally fine in its own right and no need to have a 'fuller' version unless you want to.

Marmitelover55 · 23/01/2016 16:06

I have a DD called Rose, Rosie for short (or in fact long). She is a teenager now and loves her name Smile
