Charlotte - is it a cliche now the royals have used it?

My DH and I have boys names sorted but are struggling with girls names... Charlotte was our preference before we knew DS1 was a boy, but now that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have used it, I'm worried it's going to be a bit cliched or become too popular... What do you think? The only alternatives we have are Isobel (which seems very popular), Arabella (my husband thinks this is a bit OTT... Help me!!! :-)

I think it's fine to use Charlotte. It's been popular for a long time (I can think of at least 6 Charlottes my age and I'm 28, as well as several younger ones). I remember people thought Catherine/Kate would suddenly become popular and it hasn't happened. I really don't think it will make any difference on popularity.

I think people will be avoiding it because they think it will become overused, so it won't be overused IYSWIM?

I think it's lovely and you should go for it. Agree with nextusername too.

I'm due next month and we've picked Charlotte for a girl. It was on our short list for DC1 born the same year as Prince George, but we went with something else even though she was a girl. I don't think it matters. It's not a particularly unique name that people will even notice.

Those are all good points - thank you - I loved it when we chose it first time round so guess we should probably stick with it... Plus we don't agree on any others!!! Thanks all! :-)
