Which of these names do you like for a girl? I already have a Eva and a Isaiah. Feel free to criticise, suggestions are also welcome!

I don't like any - but can you tell me if any of them have any cultural significance for you?

NeedsAsockamnesty · 04/01/2016 00:30

I quite like Eadlin

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 04/01/2016 00:48

Amelle is nice. Or Amelie.

irie · 04/01/2016 00:51

Go for empress

Busyworkingmum71 · 04/01/2016 01:08

Empress is awful, just awful.

Italy, nope.

Armelle okish but Amelie better.

Eadlin not bad. Niamh is nice too.

Sofiria · 04/01/2016 11:53

How is Eadlin pronounced?

I'm not keen on any of them, I'm sorry to say. Armelle is the best of the bunch. Please not Empress. I taught a little girl once called Princess and while she was a lovely child, the name confused her classmates immensely.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 04/01/2016 12:02

Where have you got empress from? Italy is also stupid. Eadlin is not very nice. Amelle is a lovely name but it's Arabic in origin not French.

SkyShadow · 04/01/2016 12:06

I've remembered where I heard Eadlin before. A book called The Heir by Kiera Cass. The rather bratty crown princess in that is called Eadlyn.

How is eadlin pronounced?

Eed-lin or ade-Lin?

I like it as eed-Lin.

Gaelic origin?

Empress is too similar to impress, as well as all the peerage connotations.

Italy seems more boyish.

Amelle is ok, but seems like Amelie but not finished.

Isaiaheva · 04/01/2016 16:01

It would be pronounced eed-lin.

My chld went to nursery with a Princess and they used to read a book called The Princess where everyone took turns being the Princess so Princess became Princess Princess which really confused my son. He asked me once is her name Princess Princess Princess? And they also put. Her name peg next to a a boy called William so it said Princess William :). So its a no to Empress for me. all those Princess/queeny names sounds like names for weird breeds of thorough bred cats to me as well.

I really like Eadlin, and you could nn her Edie - but would people mishear it at Evelyn?
