Hello, hello beautiful people.

After three Children, my husband and I have always had a deal that he chooses the first three kids. And I choose (if we had any more) the rest.

So now it is my turn hehehe..evil laugh.
I am absolutely addicted to the "Game Of Thrones" and "Vikings". I know it's sick and twisted that I want my child to be named after a psychopath named "Floki". But that name is way too cute!

If you have any beautiful names, either boy or girl (as we don't know the gender yet), I'd take all into consideration.

My short list is -

Girls- Sansa Aryna Kaleesi

Boys-

Floki
Rollo
Tyrion

I love double names. Like Mary-anne. (Except I don't like that name) lol.
Thanks everyone.

Nooka. I'm actually not 100%. Just contemplating it. We decide together, and can object at anytime. But this is how we did the names, as usually everything evenly. Our marital choice lol.

I like the names, regardless of what others say. There are worse "real" names than these.

However. I may let my Mum choose.
She wanted Aramoana, which is a Maori name. And we both like it, but definitely something we will have to get used to.

HanSolo-

^My Husband didn't ask to name them.
I offered, as they are named after his parents who have recently passed away.
He had two sets of parents, due to adoption.
But he is named after one of them, which is why they will not be part of it, as there is already a namesake.^

Be very careful - the books original meaning of Khaleesi was dothraki for 'whore of Khal' there have been a lot of red faces when this was pointed out after it became popular over the last year or 2.

I love Arya, and derivitives of this if you don't want to be too 'tv influenced' such as Ariana or Anya

Tyrion, though usually spelled Tirion (or Tirian for a girl) is a legitimate Welsh name.

Arya and Rollo are the only other real names there.

Khalessi might mean "princess" in theory but given the (fictional) culture it originates from,I'm not sure the meaning would be quite so flattering. Horse lords child bride, lovely.

CelestiaLuna · 30/12/2015 01:01

That's the worst deal ever, your husband names the first three? How many did you hope to have when you agreed to that?

A fantasy type name might be odd if your other kids have traditional names.

IoraRua · 30/12/2015 04:34

I was about to point out the whore of the khal thing. Definite no.
Besides, it's game of thrones, she could go bathshit crazy and wind up the next Genghis Khan. Wouldn't touch a GoT name for that reason alone.

Arya, Tyrion and Sansa are probably the easiest to pull off but I'd avoid them because of the way those characters can change...

aoife24 · 30/12/2015 06:01

There have been a lot of threads about the number of trolls on Mumsnet at the moment. Is this perhaps one?

3luckystars · 30/12/2015 10:32

There is no way anyone allowed their husband name "the first 3".
For a million reasons.

HanSolo · 30/12/2015 15:49

So you have Lilian, Enid and Albert. Followed by Loki or Arya?
I suppose Margery (Tyrrell) might go.

FairyFluffbum · 30/12/2015 16:13

Aramoana sounds a bit of a mouthful....

Sofiria · 30/12/2015 22:52

Definitely not Khaleesi or Floki. Arya might make people unfamiliar with GoT think of 'Aryan' so I'd go with Aria or Ariane instead.

I quite like Rollo. I'm more familiar with GoT so what about these names, either from or influenced by it:

Jon
Brienne
Robert (Robb)
Edward (Ned)
Brandon
Catelyn
Shireen
Margery
Melisande
Danica/Danielle (Dany)

enderwoman · 31/12/2015 14:53

I think Ned is slang for chav in Scotland?

CrayonShavings · 03/01/2016 15:01

Ragnar's daughter was Gieda or similar, I like that. What was Bjorn's wife's name?

I've just finished watching the latest series, Rollo fighting like a crazy bear...

Floki is a bit of a twat don't you think? He reminds me of Pete from big brother (the one who had tourettes)

grumpysquash2 · 03/01/2016 15:05

Khaleesi doesn't mean Princess or Queen.
It means 'The Kings Whore'. Despite sounding very pretty, you'd have to think hard about whether that's what you wanted....

Arya and Sansa are lovely though :)

What are your 3 DC called?

Gunting · 03/01/2016 15:42

Is this real?

Suzietwo · 03/01/2016 18:56

I had a friend called Rollo when I was growing up. He was English. He had a sister called coco and a brother called milo.

Chocolate heaven

unicornthong · 13/01/2016 06:23

Khaleesi is a big fat NO; imagine how badly that'll date! Confused

Arya is nice but there are two hugely popular shows with an Arya/Aria on TV at the moment (Game of Thrones and Pretty Little Liars), Sansa is cool but the GoT connection will be painfully obvious I'm afraid.

Rollo is a chocolate! Or the fat puppy in 101 Dalmatians (Roly) and you'd be setting your kid up for a lifetime of teasing if you chose Rollo.

Astrid has a Viking feel to it without being a TV show name, if you like that? Same with Ingrid.

Leif for a boy is also painfully cool. I love it.

I'm sure none of this has helped, sorry!

jamtartandcustard · 13/01/2016 21:23

I love Sansa. I think it works well as a name, reminds me of saskia.
As for boys, not keen on your list but I do like ned or theon as GoT names
