No, he is a friendly ghost

NerrSnerr · 28/12/2015 21:17

My first thought was friendly ghost too.

5madthings · 28/12/2015 21:18

Love it, it's my nephews name. He is four and no one says anything about the friendly ghost which is not popular/well known amongst kids now anyway.

Luckystar1 · 28/12/2015 21:18

I love it!

NashvilleQueen · 28/12/2015 21:22

I knew one spelled Kaspar years ago. Fewer ghost connotations perhaps. Kaspar was one the three kings wasn't he?

YouBastardSockBalls · 28/12/2015 22:09

Any more??

Brilliant name. I hear it and think wise man, not ghost. Really like it.

HeffalumpTrap · 28/12/2015 22:13

I know a Caspar and my first thought was along the friendly ghost lines but now I'm used to it and I know him it doesn't enter into my mind and seems normal.

If you like it go for it

xmasseason · 28/12/2015 22:22

I like it.

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 28/12/2015 22:54

I like it Xmas Wink

CherryPits · 29/12/2015 00:15

er i find it a bit poncy tbh. its a cat's name.

KatOnATinRo0f · 29/12/2015 00:36

I like it

YouBastardSockBalls · 29/12/2015 07:31

Hmm this is cautiously encouraging...!

DH says that the child would be teased with friendly ghost type insults - does anyone else agree??

babyconverse · 29/12/2015 07:33

Friendly ghost I think ... But would those under 5 have heard of the ghost?

Penfold007 · 29/12/2015 08:14

Caspar, Casper, Kaspar and Kasper are popular names locally. Most get 'friendly ghost' teasing.

YouBastardSockBalls · 29/12/2015 08:24

Where do you live Penfold? And how old are the children?

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 29/12/2015 08:26

I don't like the spelling. And think friendly ghost!
Jasper?

MrsBalustradeLanyard · 29/12/2015 08:27

I get random texts from someone asking if Caspar would like to come for a play date.

My reply was 'I do not have a child named Caspar.'

It's awful, in my opinion.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 29/12/2015 08:33

What's wrong with being a friendly ghost? Confused.

Bellejournee · 29/12/2015 09:45

I prefer the Casper spelling and know a little toddler Casper - who is adorable! No one other than a woman neighbour in her 40s has ever mentioned the ghost connection apparently and none of my mutual friends with casper's family have ever said anything other than what a cool name it is. Go for it!

DramaQueenofHighCs · 29/12/2015 09:55

CaspEr is the "friendly ghost", CaspAr was one of the three kings/wise men from the Christmas story so a lovely name IMHO. My friend's DS is called Caspar and tbh I don't think he'll get much 'friendly ghost' teasing as most children haven't even heard of that film! (In my experience!) It's just the adults making those connotations.

Raxacoricofallapatorius · 29/12/2015 10:42

My friend has a Caspar. None of his friends have ever mentioned the friendly ghost. He's 6. And so what if they did? It's no different to any other film or cartoon character. Matilda, Milo, Leo, Ben, Holly, Dorothy, Jamie, Simon. All dc in my dd's school. All well known characters in their own right. That's the thing with names. They name people. Sometimes those people are famous. I perhaps would avoid Adolf or Madonna for example but a benign and well liked ghost? Not a problem.

pilates · 29/12/2015 12:52

No, sorry.

CherryPits · 29/12/2015 12:56

It could be delightful for a baby, or a toddler.
But what about a strapping teen called Casper
or a Balding adult?

BettyBi0 · 29/12/2015 17:35

I think the friendly ghost thing is so dated now that only older parents would have that association.

It's a great name!
