Traditional boys name for DS2 - no shortlist!

I'm only 15 weeks so i know its early to be panicking, but we are seriously stuck for potential boys names! DS1 is Edward nn Teddy/Teds, so we'd like something fairly traditional to sit alongside it.

I really like names with options (Elizabeth is a top girls name for us as a lovely grown up name but could be Liz/Beth/betsie/ellie etc)

The thing is, Alfred and Charles i feel are out, because there are a million Alfie and Charlies. I don't want anything TOO trendy as won't go with traditional Edward - and we are NOT trendy people!

I LOVE frederick - but that is 100% veto'd by DH and i'll never win that one (tried with DS1!) DH is SO fussy on boys names! Nothing that's a surname, nothing that is slightly different - but nothing boring or too popular either - AGH!

Thoughts welcome on the following...
Albert - the front runner - but is it a little bit too hipster?
Timothy - his fave but i just think of 'timmaaaa from southpark!
Daniel - I like
Hugo - can't be shortened!

I also love (but DH doesn't):
Spencer
Jacob
Rafferty
Fergus
Oscar

Any ideas or thoughts most welcome! It might be a girl yet - but our family are boy-heavy so i need to be prepared!

I like Albert, and Albie or Bertie works well with Teddy

Another vote for James.
As PPs suggested, Matthew is a great name too.

I'm not keen at all on these 'old names'. Albert is awful, sorry.

I like Frederick and Rafferty. I also like Quentin, Marcus, Elliot and Nicholas.

Don't like Alfred/Alfie or Charlie at all, sorry. Think they will date badly.

Henry is the most perfect boy's name that there ever was and all the Henrys currently in my house eating the Christmas ham are absolutely lovely.:)

Teddy and

Richard
Daniel
Joseph

And Simon, of course, great name.

I love Stanley but DH vetoed it :( DC2 turned out to be a girl anyway so it didn't matter in the end.

We had the same dilemma and went for Hugo as slightly more unusual. Other options: Arthur, Lawrence, Richard, William.

DS is Alfred nn Freddie - would that suit both you and your DH?

YokoUhOh · 25/12/2015 10:16

Oh, Fred and Ted not ideal!

We have a Julian which we shorten to Jules sometimes : )
