Minnie Bow Butler, or Lydia Helen Butler?

Baby girl due in Feb Smile

I'm undecided, the first one sounds like she'll be a celeb, the other one is very solid/strong and would do well as a professional name.

As Minnie Mouse wears a bow, Minnie Bow is not a combination that I'd go for. Would she be Minnie on her birth certificate? Minnie is very cute but a no-go if your surname is Cooper.

Lydia Helen is the complete opposite- very sensible and strong.

Chockablocks · 19/12/2015 13:51

ender her surname will be Butler, so let's hope she doesn't marry a Cooper! Yes, it would just be Minnie, not a shortened nickname for a another name etc. I imagine a little girl with a strong personality when I think of the name :)

But, I really do love Lydia and have always imagined by daughter being called as such.

Lydia is one of my favourite names so I prefer that one

And much as I love Minnie Mouse I just think Minnie as a child's name is too twee and sickly and I don't like it

AuntieStella · 19/12/2015 13:56

Lydia

Oysterbabe · 19/12/2015 13:57

Minnie Bow sounds silly tbh. If you go with Minnie I'd choose a middle name that isn't an object.

BertrandRussell · 19/12/2015 13:57

Bear in mind that in some parts of the country, Minnie is a child's word for female genitals.

I would go for Lydia anyway. Fab name.

NerrSnerr · 19/12/2015 13:58

I prefer Lydia. I think Minnie Bow would sound daft when she's grown up.

Allthatglitter5 · 19/12/2015 14:01

Lydia Helen - really lovely.
If you do use Minnie it needs a different middle name IMO. Minnie Helen would give her the option of using her mn if she wanted to if, as you say, work or marriage made Minnie less desirable.

KoalaDownUnder · 19/12/2015 14:01

Lydia. By a mile.

RiverTam · 19/12/2015 14:02

Lydia is a lovely name.

Roygrace · 19/12/2015 14:04

Knowing a teenage Minnie who hates her name as up here it means vagina would put me off

NashvilleQueen · 19/12/2015 14:05

Isn't one of the programmes called Minnie's Bowtique as well?

SirChenjin · 19/12/2015 14:07

Lydia Helen Butler - lovely strong name Smile

Minnie (Bow) is far too twee (as well as being the name for ladies bits)

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 19/12/2015 14:13

Lydia Helen by a million miles Minnie might be cute for an adorable little baby, but its just daft for an adult, sorry.

FunkyPeacock · 19/12/2015 14:17

Definitely Lydia Helen

Ughnotagain · 19/12/2015 14:24

Lydia, definitely. It's not overly common but I like it.

Elllicam · 19/12/2015 14:29

Lydia

BackforGood · 19/12/2015 14:30

Definitely Lydia Helen - 2 strong, "proper" names.

Sparklycat · 19/12/2015 14:32

Minnie bow would mean the kid would have a lifetime of teasing. If you like Minnie choose a different middle name! Grin

HeffalumpTrap · 19/12/2015 14:36

Another vote for Lydia Helen. By a long way for so many reasons

Sameshitdiffname · 19/12/2015 14:37

Minnie was my grandmothers name and although she predated the mouse she still had comparisons made. I prefer Lydia Helen.

doitanyways · 19/12/2015 14:41

Another vote for Lydia from me!

whatdoIget · 19/12/2015 14:42

Is bow a name, or does it have some kind of special significance for you, op? Just interested. I prefer Lydia Helen Smile
