Cara as a nn for Caroline? Other suggestions?

Caroline is a top contender if this DC is a girl but we need a nn (we tend to use a mix of full and nn with our other DC.

We cant use Cally as already in use by a family pet (!) and I'm not a big fan of Carrie really. I came up with Cara as quite often Caroline sounds more like 'Caraline' when said out loud - is this too much of a leap?

Any other nn suggestions? Must begin with C! (I have this thing about nn starting with the same letter as the full name)

Wow, there's a few Caroline's on here Wink I'm also a Caroline, my dad tried to call me Carrie but it never stuck. The majority of people call me Caroline & I always introduce myself as that, close friends will call me Caz (which I know my parents hated when I was younger!)

I also know two other Caroline's (it becomes confusing if I'm out in a group with either of them!) and they both answer to Caz as well.

I expect she will go by her full name when she's older, much like I expect my other DC will as their shortenings lend themselves to younger children rather than adults. but for me it is a long grown up name for a little one hence wanting a shortening.

I expect it would be Caz once she's a teen which is fine, but I couldn't choose to use it myself as there is one in the family.

Looks like I may have to get my head round Carrie then!

or let DH have his way and go with his popular choice (which has a shortening I really love)

only have 3 weeks left to sort this out!
