Hi which do you like best out of Theo, short for Theodore and Finn, not short for anything, and why?
Thank you :)

Finn

Because ds is friends with a lovely one.

TaylorKent312 · 12/12/2015 08:32

I prefer longer names so if Finn was short for Finlay or Finnick etc, I would have picked Finn so I have go with Theodore on this one.

Humptythenumpty · 12/12/2015 08:49

I prefer Theo to Finn. But prefer Finlay to Theodore.

Doublebubblebubble · 12/12/2015 08:51

I like Theodore because (if you want) you can shorten it to Theo, ted, teddy x

Tirfarthoin · 12/12/2015 09:07

Finn, because it is my brothers name and its great on an adult.
I know a Teo which is imo much nicer than Theo probably spelled Theo but pronounced Teo

SoftBlocks · 12/12/2015 09:10

Theo

hollieberrie · 12/12/2015 09:15

Theo - I like the way it sounds and looks written down.

pilates · 12/12/2015 09:19

Finn

BendydickCuminsnatch · 12/12/2015 09:30

Hmm there's not much in it for me! I know lots of both of them if you mind about popularity.

I think today I prefer Finn, it's the first time I've really thought about it. Finn feels very fresh.

I do love Theo but they are everywhere and its losing its appeal and becoming dull. It is a very friendly name though.

pieceofpurplesky · 12/12/2015 09:39

Theo but not Theodore.

Sophronia · 12/12/2015 17:44

Finn, I'm bored of Theo/dore.

celtictoast · 12/12/2015 18:08

Theo/Theodore.

Finn has been fairly popular for a while and I think Theodore is more classic.

Finn just makes me think of fins as in fish.

DramaAlpaca · 12/12/2015 18:10

Finn, love it.

casey101 · 12/12/2015 18:40

Thanks everyone seems to be almost an even split! Tirfarthoin do you mind if I ask approx ho old your brother is. Do you live in Ireland as I know it's been popular for a while there historically? I would never have wanted to pick a popular name but when i first started liking finn years ago it wasnt!

also i have a bit of an association with the fithing too and whether 'finn' just sounds like a 'thing' whereas theo sounds more like a name/ more musical, but still like it. Just dont know if i can imagine a man called finn.

*fish thing not fithing

me again- also i wouldn't want ppl to assume finn was short for someeting as no offense to anyone but REALLY dont like the finley, finnegan type names, only Finn cos thought it sounded short and kind of cool, but now am not so sure. Like Theodore just dont know if its a bit boring...:/

squoosh · 12/12/2015 19:46

I wouldn't assume Finn was short for something. I'm Irish so all the Finns I know are just Finn or Fionn. I'm not a fan of Finley/Finlay. Finn by itself sounds much stronger. He was a legendary warrior after all!

Theo is nice but I personally wouldn't call a child Theodore.

AngelsWithFilthySouls · 12/12/2015 19:52

Finn (biased Wink)

Ours is just Finn and we've not met any others (he's 1). Really don't like Finlay etc but thankfully people don't assume it's short for that and agree with pp that Finn sounds stronger. DS is definitely our fair warrior.

casey101 · 12/12/2015 21:49

thanks all- well thats the other thing, he definitely wont be fair or blond and although there is a very distant connection to (northern) ireland i dont feel any connection with Ireland, beautiful as it is. I dont know if thats important?

OP posts:
squoosh · 12/12/2015 22:00

It's not important.

The lead character in the new Star Wars film is a Finn. It's gone global.

If you were thinking about calling him Aodhán for example well then I'd think you'd need an Irish connection Grin

Oysterbabe · 12/12/2015 22:31

I prefer Finn.

Bellejournee · 13/12/2015 07:33

We know a little Finn (spelt Fynn), which I like. I do like Theodore/Theo - and the couple I know are lovely. Both great name choices!

casey101 · 13/12/2015 07:39

Thanks everyone much prefer this site to another one that sounds very similar where ppl are much more judgmental!

Theodore/Theo is my favourite.
