For a boy. Cute or crazy or both? Obviously this is just aimed towards those who already loves unusual names.

My DD already has a very unusual name so don't need any negativity about them in general, just wondering if this is that step too far? I preferred Fox but cant use it so was thinking of alternatives :) x

I love the name Wolf...but you will have to make sure he's outdoorsy and not a wuss!

Wolfgang, Wolfram or, for that real old AngloSaxon feel, Beowulf.

For the love of god, don't just call him Wolf (and this is from someone who called her child Cornelius so odd names I do). Give him a choice.

My parents could have tried from one end of my childhood to the other to achieve this with me and they would have failed. It is not possible or desirable to force your child to be the way you want, rather than the way they want to be.

I think you were probably joking, fruitlovingmonkey, but I do think some people don't get this point at all. It's one of the problems with the fact that parents name the child when she is brand new and nobody knows what she is going to be like. The child then has to live with the name for the rest of her life or go through the palaver of changing her name.

Don't worry Gasp0de, I actually really disagree with parents trying to mould their children into the people they want them to be.
It is worth thinking about how the name might work if the child turns out to be the opposite, especially if you choose a very strong name like Wolf or Falcon or a soft, sweet name like Jasmine or Fleur.

I like it. I do love Fox though why can't you use it?

tellmeofthetime · 17/12/2015 22:35

Wolf is awful, Falcon is worse.
But I'm obviously getting very old because I sat silently tittering whilst reading the 'cast' list at my grandson's nativity. And am now thinking Cocobella is a bit tame next to Tigger Grin

Love it. I know an adult one (Wolfgang, German) and noone bats an eyelid. Do it.
Loving Beowulf!
