Violet by a MILE OP!! Gorgeous. I am biased as know we are having a girl and will definitely be calling her this. Not keen on your other names at all sorry + they don't really have a vintage feel either.

I don't see why a D surname should be a problem with Violet.

Violet Daniels
Violet Davis
Violet Donovan

All sound OK to me!

TaliZorah · 10/12/2015 17:49

Because her initials would be VD...

BikeRunSki · 10/12/2015 18:20

But VD is a very dated term, it's been STD for decades.

TaliZorah · 10/12/2015 19:12

Yeah I wouldn't have thought about it if OP hadn't mentioned it

Surf25 · 10/12/2015 20:42

I understand the VD thing but to be honest I don't think many people would make that connection and not her generation anyway! Just give her a middle name and then she will have another initial to use anyway. Violet is lovely. Prefer to the other three.

MadameJosephine · 10/12/2015 21:00

Not keen on any of your original three but I love violet

AuntieStella · 10/12/2015 23:00

"But VD is a very dated term, it's been STD for decades."

Still in use in the US, and you hear it on TV programmes from there. I wouldn't.

storm1974 · 12/12/2015 08:24

Thanks all for your comments I think I'm going with violet just need to think of a middle name!
