So, I love Noah! It's 100% being my bump's name, if it's a boy! Xmas Smile DP prefers Kieran, but is happy with it being a middle name Xmas Grin I like it, so me too - my question is, should we go with Kieran, or the original spelling - Ciaran? (We have no Irish connections) x

I thought it was Kieron Confused unhelpful, sorry!

myotherusernameisbetter · 04/12/2015 20:18

I prefer it with a C, I have a Ciar though so am a bit biased :)

Varya · 04/12/2015 20:19

I have seen it spelled either Keiron or Keiran.

KatieLouiseW · 04/12/2015 20:24

Oh, I've never come across a Kieron!

My Uncle in his 50's is Kieron (Irish mother and father) Ex husband is Ciaran (Irish and we live in Ireland) My son has a classmate spelt Kieran though so no help at all really 🙈

DiorSausage · 04/12/2015 20:33

Ciaran.

It's hideous with a K.

KatieLouiseW · 04/12/2015 20:34

I feel like Kieran is more well known in England - when I was in Primary School, I had a friend named Ciaran and everyone found the spelling strange!

My ds (17) has 3 Kierans in his class - all split like that.

I also know 2 Ciaras.

Palomb · 04/12/2015 20:35

90% of Kieran's I've ever known have been spelled with a K. Ciaran is nice too.

Afaik there aren't any other legitimate spellings not that that means anything

DickDewy · 04/12/2015 20:36

Spelt!

KatieLouiseW · 04/12/2015 20:36

I am leaning towards Kieran

I know three aged from 7 to 34. All Kieran. I think in England the vast majority are Kierans.

KatieLouiseW · 04/12/2015 20:43

Yeah - sorted, thanks Xmas Smile to the person who says it's hideous, I completely disagree Xmas Grin

Lad in our office called Kyran.

bobsalong · 04/12/2015 20:45

I know a Kieran and a Keiran, just to give you another option!

KatieLouiseW · 04/12/2015 20:46

Is that pronounced Ky-ran though?

KatieLouiseW · 04/12/2015 20:47

I think I prefer the i before the e Xmas Smile

Racmactac · 04/12/2015 20:47

I have a Ciaran. Definitely unusual way to spell it in uk.

SuburbanRhonda · 04/12/2015 20:47

My Irish cousin spells it Cieron Smile

KatieLouiseW · 04/12/2015 20:49

All these spellings! Xmas Shock

Sophronia · 04/12/2015 20:51

I only like Ciaran.

KatieLouiseW · 04/12/2015 20:58

Mind you, if I had a second son - we would probably go for Rhys and that's the original Welsh spelling, so it might be nice to go for Ciaran

My DH is Kieren, though one of the first things I ever said to him was 'You spell your name wrong' Grin

MagpieCursedTea · 04/12/2015 21:14

My friend is Keiren. I've never seen it spelt that way by anyone else but because he's the Keiren that I see written down the most, in my mind that's how it should be spelt Grin

lljkk · 04/12/2015 21:19

Kieran is the common spelling around here. The ones I know are 15-16yo. I didn't know it could be spelled like Ciar?n.
