Linnea (lin-nay-ah), Silke, Damaris, Laeticia (also could be Laetitia), Bronwyn?

I have developed a long list of names but these have caught my eye....probably for the best, I can see myself vetoing lots that don't quite fit when she's born. I'm indecisive.

So, opinions on the above please - if you've any girls names you'd like to add please share :) Quite open to anything as my other name choices so far are quite different! If possible I am trying to avoid short -a or -ie ending names as ime there are so many of these around.

Linnea made me think of house of Fraser straight away

celtictoast · 13/11/2015 19:15

Linnea, Lynette or Seren.

Crazypetlady · 13/11/2015 19:18

Eira is also lovely

CamilleDesmoulins · 13/11/2015 19:20

My Swedish friend's daughter is Linnea. I think it is a name there.

SoupDragon · 13/11/2015 19:23

I think Laeticia/Laetitia is dreadful spelt like that.

Bronwyn I like and the wen has Lready been mentioned :)

Linnea does make me think of House of Fraser.

SoupDragon · 13/11/2015 19:24

I used to work with a Lynelle which isn't a name I've heard of anywhere else.

IoraRua · 13/11/2015 20:34

Bernice reminds me of Bernese Mountain dogs Blush
Eira...pretty but I just see IRA when I look at it. And Lynelle, I don't know what it is exactly about it but it doesnt seem right iyswim.

Seren is definitely a non runner, it's too close to Serena.

Hmm. Will have to have another think about names.

Nah Sybil is too Fawlty Towers Grin

Cadence....interesting that you've suggested that, DP mentioned Candice (or is it Candace?) earlier today! I actually quite like it! It could be hard to pull off though...

Serena and Serena look similar written down OP, but they are pronounced very differently.
Serena = Sare-enn.
Serena = Sare-ee-nah

MrsDallowaySaid · 13/11/2015 21:06

I teach a Damaris. I think it is a lovely unusual name.

ragged · 13/11/2015 21:22

Silke is nice.
Leticia (or however you spell it) is not one of my faves. There are 99 ways to spell it.

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 13/11/2015 21:29

Bronwen is fab. Not keen on the others (sorry ). And certainly in England Silke would be one of those annoying 'people think they can pronounce it but can't' names.

Linnea makes me think of linear. Or the HOF brand.

CakeRattleandRoll · 14/11/2015 15:37

Lynette would be my favourite. Or Linnet if you wanted a 'nature name'.

Suggestions:
Liana
Anwen
Elke

ExBallerina · 14/11/2015 15:43

I like Linnea. But didn't know those associations before this thread Grin

I have an aunt Leticia and she's the best so I love it. We just call her Tich.

IoraRua · 14/11/2015 16:14

Even so MrsLeigh, in written form Seren is too similar.

An interesting mix of opinions here, thanks folks! Liana is already on my list actually :) Haven't posted all the names here as I just wanted feedback on a few.

Carmen is lovely, as is Celeste but am not sure that's something we could pull off. Which is odd I know when I'm thinking of Laetitia but still.
Linnet is nice, not sure I'd get it past DP though!
