Hi ladies

Our first child is due next April, a little girl. Very excited!

We are considering names and both like the name Livvy. We don't like Olivia so that isn't an option.

What do you think of Livvy? It seems to be seldom chosen :-)

Any thoughts very welcome

I like it as a nickname (short for Olivia obviously) but don't really see it as a name in its own right

IoraRua · 11/11/2015 21:44

Not liking it.
How about Libby?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/11/2015 21:46

I don't like it as a full name.

crumblybiscuits · 11/11/2015 21:47

My name is Olivia and I hate being called Livvy. I think it is a nickname, not a name on its own.

Gemmy1983 · 11/11/2015 21:49

Thanks for the feedback, reaction is as I feared. How about Eve?

I wouldn't. I was called Livvy until the age of about 9 or 10. Great for a child but I didn't like it as a pre-teen/teenager. I think it's best as a nickname.

Do you like Libby? That can be short for Elizabeth as well as some other names.

Congratulations on your baby. Flowers Smile

crumblybiscuits · 11/11/2015 21:51

Eve is lovely Smile

WishIWasWonderwoman · 11/11/2015 21:52

Sorry missed you last post.

Eve is nice! Smile

Gemmy1983 · 11/11/2015 21:53

We don't really like Libby :-(

I'm not mad on Olivia, but do like Livia. An option, perhaps, so that young Livvy has a full name option when older?

Seriouslyffs · 11/11/2015 21:56

It's lovely, short for Lavinia.

Gemmy1983 · 11/11/2015 21:58

Livia will cause constant confusion tho having to explain theres no 'o' for the poor cherub.

Not really, most know it's a different name. But not forcing you. Smile

wigglesrock · 11/11/2015 22:07

I really don't think you can use Livvy without the association of Olivia somewhere. I mean if you call her Livvy and some one says "oh Olivia" you can just say No, but I think it will be an assumption.

Although I think you could get away with just Liv if that's any good?

I agree with you about Livia - I know one. I don't think she's been called by her correct first name when she is first introduced in 45 years.

HackerFucker22 · 11/11/2015 22:10

Child would forever being asked for her 'actual' name except on MN where it seems standard to name baby one thing but have them known by nickname

IoraRua · 11/11/2015 22:31

Eve is nice! Niamh is very similar as well.

celtictoast · 11/11/2015 22:35

Eve is very nice.

QueenMolotov · 12/11/2015 19:48

What about Liv? That is a name in its own right (Norse for 'bright', isn't it?) Livvy could be her nn Smile

ConesOfDunshire · 12/11/2015 19:56

Olive?

lifeinslowmotion · 12/11/2015 21:53

Liv nickname Livvy is a good suggestion.

villainousbroodmare · 12/11/2015 22:14

Inelegant and slightly non-flowing, with a hepatic flavour. Imo.

KERALA1 · 12/11/2015 22:55

God not Eve. I swear every other girl here is named eve. At one stage a third of the girls in dds class were named a variant of eve. That name is full!

Everyone will think it's just short for Olivia
