Cecily?

What do you think? I love it but DP not sure. Surname is short (one syllable) so would like a middle name but struggling for one that goes with Cecily - any thoughts?

Cecily is beautiful.

I think it would work best with another classic name as a middle name, Cecily Elizabeth, Cecily Lucinda, Cecily Miranda. The pair of longer names would contrast well with a shorter surname.

I love it.

DH hates it so I didn't "get" it. But I hope you do!

WishIWasWonderwoman · 25/10/2015 03:27

Cecily is nice. If your DH is not keen, does he like Cecelia more?

How about Cecily Elizabeth, Cecily Margaret, Cecily Jane, Cecily Anne or Cecily Rose?

Or just Cecily "Your Name" or Cecily "Your mother's Name" or Cecily "Your Sister's Name."

AuntGertrude · 25/10/2015 07:06

One of the loveliest names out there.
I would pair it with a simple or classic single syllable middle name -
Rose
Grace
Ruth
Jean/Jane/Joan

Thanks everyone. Grizzle, I'd forgotten about the Beatrix Potter character!

I like the idea of a classic middle name and you've made some great suggestions. Clementine was a favourite of mine but worried that pronunciation would be an issue (clementyne or -tyne); using it as a middle name would minimise this.

Joan is another one I'll seriously consider. It's my grandmother's middle name. We are very close and I'd like to include her in the name.

I've definitely got my heart set on Cecily now...will try to persuade DP! I think it's such an elegant sounding name and would suit a little girl and a grown up. It's unusual but not too unusual (IME anyway). Thanks again!

I like it. Like Cece as a nn as well.

Imogenlasting · 27/10/2015 16:24

I quite like it. It's an old fashioned, boarding school book type of name and I'd love to see more of those being used again.

Definitely an Angela Brazil sort of name. Cecily of the Upper Fourth or Cecily of St. Hilda's. That sort of thing.
