Patrick.Congratulations,he is gorgeous!

queenoftheboys · 11/10/2015 05:05

Congratulations! He looks like a Patrick to me too. Plus I think a two syllable name sounds better with your one syllable surname. You can't go wrong with any of those names tho!

PallasCat · 11/10/2015 13:11

PJ! Yup, that's the face of a Patrick. Congratulations!

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 11/10/2015 13:17

Patrick!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/10/2015 13:20

Patrick. But you may have to accept a shortening.

Not James. James Cook is not a very individual name, he'd always have to share it.

Personally I dont like George, but can see that others think it's a perfectly good name.

What did you go for OP?

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 14/10/2015 00:04

My favourite is James but I prefer George Cook to James Cook.

He is absolutely gorgeous OP. Congratulations!

Feeling rather anxious..... Maybe it's my hormones but feeling regretful and a little stressed and tearful :-(

My husband wanted to register our DS on Monday and I'd brought the date forward from the 2nd Nov to Oct 19th to encourage us to make a decision, albeit I was prepared to postpone it! But my husband didn't want to.

We named our darling little baby boy "George Patrick Cook" and on the way home the fairground was in our local town so we decided to take our other DS "Jack" to see it and sample a few of the little rides. Whilst we were there we bumped into three other children by the name of "George" all in the space of 30 minutes! I was left feeling Oh NO!!!! "We've made a mistake......:-( Although it's silly, I feel quite stressed and don't know what do as my husband and I can't agree on any other name, I feel I've gone for my second and third choice as my husband wont let me use the name I really like "Archie" Feeling like I need a hug and a kick up the bottom and or for someone to say..."It's your hormones everything is going to be fine with the name "George" Or suggest what I should do...Thanks in advance of your ears and suggestions ladies xxxx

Archie wasn't in your shortlist - why not, if it was your favourite? Did your DH really dislike it? What about George - was that his favourite? Patrick was the favourite on here. But all is not lost, if that's his middle name he could always use it as a first name.

My DH said he hated the name Archie! It was between George & Patrick and we were worried about Patrick being shortened. However, it may be my hormones but I felt as if I was between a rock and a hard place. I kept suggested lots of other options but my husband didn't like any of them!

So there were only two names he liked?!

Don't blame your hormones, I do think there is an obsession with pregnant women and new mums being hormonal, but your feelings and opinions are still valid.

myotherusernameisbetter · 21/10/2015 16:25

There is absolutely nothing wrong with George and if he stays George then I wouldn't worry about it being popular - is your other son Jack or was that just a name you used to tell the story? If it is Jack, then that is also a popular name and names are usually popular for a reason. They sound nice, and they cross all backgrounds.

I personally voted for Patrick as I liked it more but I am just a random woman on the internet, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what I like :)

However it sounds to me like your OH is being a bit of a bully and forcing his choices on you and making it appear that you have had input where actually neither of the final two would have been your choice.

He also gets to not like what your favourite is, but you need to have equal choice.

You have up to a year to change the name with no hassle btw so don't feel trapped.

I do think you need to discuss it again though until you are both happy.

I think all the names mentioned so far are nice and good solid names so whatever you decide on your son will grow to fit.

I totally agree with this.
