Barnaby or bear?

Sibling to Ds who also has a B name. Can't call baby barnaby and bear for obvious reasons! Or can anyone come up with any cool alternative nature names?

Barnaby, but I like Barnabas even more. Bear is ok but only as a nickname (maybe for Edward, Theodore or Arthur)

Neither.
Do you mean a name directly from nature (ie Phoenix, Glenn, Forrest, Rio, Heath) or something more subtle?
B names...Blaze, Boris, Brian, Bruno, Bartholomew, Benjamin, Bill. I like some of those, don't like others but maybe you'll like them.

Barnaby! Great name.

Ds was friends with a barnaby at nursery.

Nature names...

Reef
Rowan/roan
Jasper
Star
Acer
Jet
Jem/Jeremy

Brook? Bay?

Barnaby - is a bit fashionable for me noticed a few of these recently.
Bear - a bit odd. Could you take them seriously as an adult?

Bertie
Benedict
Bevis

I have a Bear, but he is Edward on bc, I wouldn't have given it as his 'real name'. Edwin, Edmund, Edgar and Theodore could also have nn Bear, via Teddy. Or use something that means bear - Arthur, Orson, Torben.

How important is it to have a B name? These all have 'nature' meanings, but some are a bit 'surnamey':
Barclay
Bennett
Bentley
Bernard
Bertram
Bradley
Bran
Bryn

I like Barnaby too.

I love the name Barnaby!
You could 'nickname' him Bear.

rosieliveson1 · 08/10/2015 11:25

I like Barnaby and Barney too which is similar. Bear is a sweet nickname but I wouldn't use it as an official first name.

scatterthenuns · 08/10/2015 11:30

Bear Grylls' name is Edward.

Edward > Ted > Teddy Bear > Bear

Would this work?

Thanks folks lots of food for thought here!!
