I posted a while back asking for name suggestions for a sister for Daniel.

We've now narrowed it down to the following:

Kaitlyn Ann H
Hannah Eloise H

(Surname starts with H).

Please let me know which you prefer.

The girls at our son's crèche voted 5-4 to Hannah.

I'm interested to know how the Munsnet jury voted!

Either way she needs to be registered TOMORROW!

I prefer Hannah, unless your surname begins Ha---, then it might sound too much together.

BreeVDKamp · 02/10/2015 05:56

Kaitlyn! lovely and I don't get the dislike of the spelling?

Hannah is good but Hannah Eloise is a bit of a mouthful.

I wouldn't worry about HEH. Assuming people mean nothing more than it sounds like laughter? My initials went from HAA to HAH.

EmpressKnowsWhereHerTowelIs · 02/10/2015 06:03

Hannah here too.

swimmerforlife · 02/10/2015 06:09

Hannah.

Tired2ndTimeMum · 02/10/2015 07:24

My sister pointed out the HEH initials yesterday. I'm still undecided about whether that is a big issue/problem.

I think previous posters (like my sister) are concerned about possible trading at school.

WellyMummy her surname actually is 'Ha..'

When I tell people some think this has a nice ring to it and Is memorable. Others are worried it is too much. Does this change anyone's mind?

At this stage part of me just wants someone to tell me the name to use! So far here the resounding favourite seems to be Hannah!

My surname begins with 'Ha' and I have a cousin Hannah and a cousin Harriet! They don't sound ridiculous at all.

TwigletLola · 02/10/2015 07:58

Caitlin Eloise

FunkyPeacock · 02/10/2015 08:04

Another vote for Hannah

Blu · 02/10/2015 08:08

Caitlin, Hannah and Eloise all lovely names. Eloise probably the least known / most unusual.

But please use Caitlin as the spelling - Kaitlyn is a made up American spelling of the name and she would spend her life correcting the spelling or saying 'like the wrestler'. (and Caitlin is already an English version of the original Irish)

Look at her and see what most suits her. Call the name down the stairs a few times, as in 'Daniel and '.

Quietlygoingmad67 · 02/10/2015 08:17

Good luck deciding - im assuming today is the last day to register her so that's a 6 week time gap from birth - what have you been calling the wee one since born?

Tired2ndTimeMum · 02/10/2015 08:29

Quietly I have referred to her as 'Baby' or 'Missy'.

And, in jest, we also refer to her 'Baby No Name'.

Blu I wouldn't mind Eloise as a first name but my husband doesn't like it. Part of our problem is that she looks so much like her brother when he was q baby that we find it hard to see her as having a girl's name (if that makes sense?).

I've been calling her different names every few days but so far the names have either not stuck or my husband vetoes them.

I think his favourite is Kaitlyn. I kind've like the American spelling as it's a little bit different but I do worry about her constantly having to correct people

I understand the thing that any name doesn't seem right! We have a 5 yr gap between our girls and we had chosen a name (Brooke) and it took me ages to get used to it! Infact I think it was about 5 weeks because I remember having a conversation with husband about changing it - we decided to wait until 6weeks and then had a backup name if we were still not used to it! But she still remains B :)

Tired2ndTimeMum · 02/10/2015 09:41

Thank you so much for sharing Quietly! I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only person who has had this problem!

I hoping that if we register the name and just start using it consistently then she'll just grow into that name (regardless of the choice).

We didn't have the same problem with our first born as we already had a name chosen for a boy and just started using that.

How about writing the names over and over as if you were sending birthday or Christmas cards out?
With love from Tired, Mr Tired, Daniel and ?

What grabs you then?

TinyMonkey · 02/10/2015 12:52

Hannah Eloise is a bit of a tongue twister to me, but both are lovely names.

The initials spelling HEH is a total non-issue.

JobobeanHo · 02/10/2015 13:01

I don't like Kaitlyn. I like Hannah. I have no idea how Eloise is pronounced though! It's driving me crazy trying to work it out.

I see no issue with the initials HEH. Most children at school don't forensically examine their school mates names like I think sometimes parents think they do. (I'm not getting at anyone here. I did this when naming my dd too!)

Quietlygoingmad67 · 02/10/2015 13:06

job my d's has a friend called Eloise and it's pronounced. EL - LOUISE - if that makes sense!! Grin

UptownFlunk · 02/10/2015 13:19

Eloise definitely. Classy & a little unusual. Kaitlyn is very overused around here and I've always found Hannah a bit meh. Anna is nicer but Eloise is nicer still.

celtictoast · 02/10/2015 13:25

Hannah Eloise

Bakeoffcake · 02/10/2015 13:36

Hannah Eloise is a lovely name.

I do like Kaitlyn but down like the Ann bit.

SoftBlocks · 02/10/2015 13:39

Hanna or Eloise.

squoosh · 02/10/2015 13:51

Eloise

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 02/10/2015 13:58

Caitlin Eloise would be my first choice, followed by Hannah Caitlin. The alternative Kaitlyn spelling is odd to me, and Ann for her middle name is a bit plain. Anna is nicer.

(It does depend on the Ha surname though - Hannah Harris is a bit much, Hannah Hall works well.)

Pigeonpost · 02/10/2015 14:00

Hannah. Not keen on Caitlin and Kaitlyn is awful.

Pigeonpost · 02/10/2015 14:00

Harris was the surname that sprung to my mind Archbishop and I actually think Hannah Harris sounds lovely.
